Looking like the mall will be closed through at least tomorrow. I wonder if the shops/stores will be able to make some sort of loss-of-business claims through their respective insurance companies?

Well, and how do they quantify the overall loss of business for all the people who are too scared to go to the mall now?

It's a very tough proposition/equation, I'm sure.

Sad, sad, sad. :(

I know someone who was working in the food court, pretty crazy.

I'm pretty sure it's a few dozen people at most. In a nation of 300 million people it's merely a fleeting news oddity, a grain of sand on the beach, like lightning striking a person, which BTW happens a lot more often than mall shootings.

I think you're wrong. I think people will opt to go somewhere else. Is that movie theater where the Batman shooting took place still in business? Sure, some people won't care, but I guarantee that a lot of parents will think twice about going to CTC so soon after a shooting.

Well if the guy who owned the gun had it secured, or if nobody was able to purchase that caliber of gun, things would have gone a little better.

He only shot three people. It could have gone better (IE nobody shot) but it also could have gone much much worse.

Or just one (himself).

I don't advocate suicide, but damn, if you're that fucked in the head and you're not going to seek help, it's better you sacrifice yourself for the greater good (and avoid tragedies like this one).

I'm not entirely sure why some people feel the need to take other people with them as they leave this world..... is it a need to spread the misery that they're feeling to others?

attention.

Just sad man....... Forsythe worked with quite a few friends of mine at ENtercom and just found out last night that our close friend's girlfriend is his niece. Guess he was a great guy. Why do these people have to take others with them if they want to die!

Wait, everything I've been reading spelled his name Forsyth (no e). Is this guy related to Zach?

I suspect they're angry at the world and they want to take their anger out on other people.

Don't know about that, but after talking to some of them about it....... it's tough reading and hearing all this 2nd amendment bullshit!

Luckily NO! I might have just spelled it wrong.......

Well that's a relief. That's the first thing I thought of when I read the victims name, but I haven't kept in touch with him or his cousins/aunt and uncle, who are family friends, so I wasn't sure.

Had to drive over to the Clackamas Costco for.tires. They had the exit for the Town Center from 205 still blocked off. Wondering what has to be done before they reopen.

Today I heard a guy who is permitted to carry had his gun drawn protecting a group of people behind a store wall.

And here's the thing.... if you are legally carrying a sidearm and something like this happens, what do you do? Unless you are right in the middle of it, you don't want to go looking for the guy.

A) If the cops see you, they will most likely shoot.

B) What if he gets the jump on you?

I think that guy did the right thing. Protect as many as you can in a tactical advantageous location.

One year later, keeping the families and friends of the victims of the Clackamas Mall shooting in my thoughts and prayers

And not a day has gone by where I haven't reflected about MGB.
