Please don't give this guy personal attention. Don't share his name and shit. Don't increase his infamy.
Thank you..great post and my sentiments to the teePlease don't give this guy personal attention. Don't share his name and shit. Don't increase his infamy.
CNN isn't sharing his name right now--not sure if that is because they can't or because they've chosen not to.Not saying his name will do nothing. It will be all over the news and internet soon.
The lack of medical attention for mental disorders in this country is awful
With all these shootings, bi-polar disorder, depression, aspergers, etc. Are at the root. I'd bet almost anything
It’s normal to take medication to help you get better when you’re not well.
Except for when that medication is to help you live with mental illness.
Then there’s still a huge stigma.
People with mental illnesses are often told to try to walk it off, or simply to try harder.
Which is ridiculous as a person with anxiety can no more snap out of it than a person can try harder to get rid of asthma.
Erin Jones tried to combat this stigma earlier this month with a selfie on Facebook where she showed her prescription for anti-depressants.
She said: ‘Anxiety and antidepressant medication to the rescue. Sometimes, folks, we just need help.’
I have a strong opinion about this trend and it comes from isolated entertainment that involves killing over and over and over again, but my son disagrees with me. The other factor is parental apathy. Teens need a voice of reason and in many cases, lack healthy activities. I told my son and his friends for many many years that they should think about military careers given their obsession with games of assasination and death. My son outgrew it, for a youngster less mentally stable..it might have a more negative impact on reality. This is not going to be a popular topic with the younger generation around here but I thought I should mention itOn the one hand, I completely agree with you, but on the other hand we really need to start understanding why these kids are doing this. Sure, we can blame the guns and spend all our time and energy trying to control the guns, but why is it happening in the first place? What is causing these kids to decide that they need to go shoot up a school or a movie theater? What pushes them to that breaking point? Do they have nothing to lose? They crave attention that much? Do they have no friends? Are they lonely and depressed? I want to know why they do it.
One thing that I don't think gets talked about enough is that these kids can go online and get encouragement from other people. Before the internet, nobody could have done that. You wouldn't go out and openly talk about doing something like this. But the anonymity allows these kids to openly discuss what they want to do with others. The internet also gives these kids significantly more attention than ever before. Billions of people hear about them, almost in real time. If you're an attention craved nutjob, that kind of mass exposure is almost impossible to turn down.
There's a "hashtag" going around social media of people celebrating that they are on big pharm anti-depressants. #MedicatedandMighty

Its a cultural issue. People are getting their kids all hopped up on these anti-depressants and shit.
I think you can have it both ways. You can have the discussion without unintentionally lionizing the killers. On the one hand, I completely agree with you, but on the other hand we really need to start understanding why these kids are doing this. Supposedly this is him. He has other videos.

So he was upset over arguing on a forum?!?
This is why we have the no personal insult rule here. If not, eventually one of you would shoot me.

I was playing on your agnostic playI always took you for an afterlife guy.
That's good because we agnostics come from the church of we don't fuckin' know but it's possibleI was playing on your agnostic play

So he's dead, so why worry about what reward he wantsThat's good because we agnostics come from the church of we don't fuckin' know but it's possible

Then that's the argument. Who gives a fuck about this guy because the guy is deadBecause it has nothing to do with him. Not publicizing him and making him famous is to prevent others from doing the same thing. That's the whole point, to prevent future attention seeking nutjobs from copy catting.
Probably the parents of the deceased and family of the teacher..just guessingThen that's the argument. Who gives a fuck about this guy because the guy is dead
So after 9/11 you woke up on 9/12 and said, who cares, they're dead? Let's not find a motive or investigate the cause and effect? sheesh mags...Then that's the argument. Who gives a fuck about this guy because the guy is dead
