I'm at a loss why they don't all move to Australia or Canada? They quote these countries like they're better places to live, so why not STFU and move there?

Or China, with a massively lower reported gun homicide rate? Surely it's a dandy place to live? 1.4 billion Chinese can't be wrong.

It's simple to move to Australia, if you're Caucasian. Not Caucasian, sorry. America is the only true melting pot in the world.
nobody has to move anywhere because they have opinions. ..There are melting pots all over the globe. When a tragedy occurs, comparisons happen. I'm an American and having lived in China...they can be wrong, just like we can.

It's really hard to just step away from something like this. This is my home and I lost friends. I am still dealing with it. I am not trying to shape the debate. But I can't turn my eyes away.

I am sure there are online forums that are support groups for those affected. There, they will probably have the answers you are looking for.

Chinas gun deaths may be low. But their throwing star deaths are at an all time high.

There are no answers for these things, just some folks looking for a supportive environment..I feel bad and it must feel worse to be so closely connected to the place this soon after it happened. handicapped problematic is welcome to express that here. He can use the ignore button whenever it seems appropriate until he's found some closure.

Australia screens who moves there.

The thing is, if a country has a higher black/latino population, as stated they will have higher gun homicide rates.

I also believe whites are probably more prone to suicide by firearm, which is by far the leading cause of firearm deaths which skews these numbers when talking about "gun deaths". This comes back to a mental health issue which is probably more prevalent in caucasians since they are more likely to "buy in" to the psychiatrists and big pharma drugs.

There are shit people all over the world. It doesnt matter what kind of weapon restrictions you put in place. People are going to kill each other. Until we figure out why we are so terrible to each other and address the issues we will never stop killing each other.

handclap problematic, the one thing we all have in common here is we all feel some pain from your closeness to this horrific act, and we all wish we could prevent such bad things from happening in the future. Especially to us or our loved ones.

We don't come close to agreeing on much else about it, but there's a strong need for many to speak out. It's not good to keep outrage bottled up until it explodes.

Most gun-control advocates are entirely ignorant of American History. They don't know why or how our country came to be. They've never read The Constitution or The Bill of Rights or the numerous debates and rewrites that created their final substance. They may be too young to realize how many freedoms they lost before their birth or too apathetic to care what freedoms they have traded for convenience and the empty promise of Big Brother's protection. They are amused that I regard them as gullible tools of anarchy, lazy puppets of evil masters, and the greatest existing threat to my life and that of my loved ones.

I view The Second Amendment as the only thing standing between America and tyranny, as it was meant to be. So anytime others attack it I must and will treat it as I would an armed attack against me and mine and my country. Unfortunately for the victims, Bloomberg and Co. always pick places like this and moments of grief like this to trumpet their disarmament agenda, and I must defend myself where the battle is being waged.

I will start a separate thread for the gun/mental illness debate and hopefully others will take that argument over there. I agree this is not the place for political arguments.

Talk about misleading.

70% of all gun deaths in the US are suicides.

Another 15% are criminals killed by other criminals.

Another 5% are criminals killed in self-defense by police or armed citizens.

5,709,329 UNARMED Jews were murdered by their government in WWII.

Pretty sure Hitler wouldn't be so infamous if he'd had to face 5,709,329 ARMED Jews.

When you bring up WWII, you've pretty much conceded any argument.

The difference is you would have less dead Jews, more dead nazis, but just as horrible a situation.

Doesn't anyone find it odd that this shooter, who is half-black and specifically targeted christians is on a media "black out". Basically not much investigation into his past, papers choosing not to name him specifically or show pictures of him, everything online has been scrubbed within reason. There is still stuff out there but its pretty controlled information.

Meanwhile, Elliot Rogers, the Santa Barbara shooter was analyzed every which way. Named everywhere, his face was everywhere, as were his videos and online doings.

Not really. I find it even more odd that the president didn't talk about how this killer singled out Christians or invite the hero to the whitehouse. Instead he would rather invite some kid that broke a clock apart and made it look like a bomb to the whitehouse.

That's another part of the blackout. Could you imagine if he signaled out Muslims instead of Christians? It'd be a TOTALLY different story, his name would be used everywhere in the media, pictures everywhere, investigations into his background, life, associates, etc.

OBAMA NOT WELCOME IN ROSEBURG, SAYS LOCAL NEWSPAPER PUBLISHER

David Jaques, the publisher of the conservative newspaper the Roseburg Beacon, says he believes that President Obama would not be welcome to the town after making remarks politicizing the shooting that left nine dead and nine injured at Umpqua Community College on October 1. Jaques told Breitbart News that he believes officials of Douglas County would also not welcome the President using the tragedy to score political points for a gun control agenda.

Any visit by President would be “a campaign stop for agenda to take away American citizen’s right to own firearms” said Jaques in an exclusive interview.

Jaques said the region is proud of Sheriff John Hanlin, who he said “put the administration on notice that if you pass any laws, edicts or executive actions that are either unconstitutional or extra-constitutional, they will not be enforced in Douglas County.” Hanlin has been savaged by the liberal national press after his letter to Vice President Joe Biden opposing gun control came to light.

Uhm, didn't the hero take like 7 bullets? He probably isn't able to fly to DC right now.

Yes, you are right, Roseburg is a hotbed of right-wing dipshits.

Wonder if Hanlin still thinks that Sandy Hook was faked.

Who said anything about firing him?
And he's not just a gun nut, he's a conspiracy nut.

There's a movement by some gun control lobbies to do so. It was on CNN

sent from a phone you've probably never heard of
