OK, I get the fact that the answer probably is he can do whatever he wants to.

But what I'm getting at is this. Let's say Obama wanted some advice from the common person on the street (for as few "common" people as there may be around here) and he asked whether or not he should run again considering the fact he plunged us into insolvency, started an entitlement program that was against the will of the country, was unconstitutional and cost dozens of democrats their seats in Congress, created punitive punishment for business as business, created such instability in the economy that big business is afraid to hire and thus promulgating an unemployment/underemployment rate greater than that of the great depression............ essentially a Presidency of divisiveness and failed policy to the extreme detriment of the country. So he asks you, "should I continue to do what I'm doing or give someone else a chance?"

What would you advise?

You're joking, right? Obama feels "entitled" to the presidency, and he's going to fight tooth and nail to keep right on taking the country down the tubes.

My gut feel is that he really believes that he's doing the right thing (confirmed by the "bad luck" speech) and that the longer he's around, and the more of "his" policies get pushed through, the better off the people will be (even if they don't realize it yet).

I don't think he looks at the Kerrys and Hillarys and Reids of the world and thinks "My worldview would get advanced if one of those guys were President"

You should have asked Clinton and Reagan that too, at this point in their first terms. They had similar approval ratings. And, had the internets been around then, there probably would have been posts like yours about them too.

I think Obama himself would dispute most if not all of your 'facts'.

My answer to Obama, were he to ask me, which he certainly won't, would be neither of the above. Run, but don't continue to do exactly the same things.

Oh, I'm pretty sure I will be successful in that endeavor. I've voted many, many times and am somewhat of an expert by now. I can fill in the oval completely without going outside the line almost 100% of the time now.

Well, I have no doubt he thinks he's doing the right thing (all Presidents do). But the clear results have been abysmal. And he knows it. If he asked me, I'd tell him not to run. Although I feel he has placed the last nail in our economic coffin, 4 more years of his policies could bring cataclysmic results.

Is Bush ran for re-election in 04, and Clinton did in 96, Obama can in 12.

Btw, on a semi unrelated but related note, I read/heard somewhere (I don't remember where) that the whole "JFK stole Illinois" by having dead people vote, is a poor argument to make.

Even if you take out Illinois and give it to Nixon, JFK still wins.

Running the country into the ground didnt stop Bush from running for reelection, so I doubt it will have any effect on Obama. As for the advice from the common person I might advise him to not run again, that all depends on who his competition is. There are plenty of potential candidates who would be much worse.

ya know, I can understand why people may want him to resign or not run again (and for the most part, I agree), but as others have pointed out- it may depend on who might replace him.

Probably the top GOP people aren't running and I'm sure I can imagine anyone on the left being a viable candidate. It appears whether it be Obama or not, we're in for another 4 miserable years after 2010.
