Shoutout Enes Kanter

When the team was tackling Dame after his shot, the cameras caught Enes grabbing Dame’s head with his hands and he then kissed him on top his head.

Very telling - Damian has created something special and there is magic in the air. I’m so thrilled that we have Dame! What a great character guy, awesome leader. And to that end I give Stotts major props for allowing Dame to shape the team. He’s proving to me why he’s our coach and should be.

I'm telling you, unless the Blazers make an insulting offer, I think Kanter will be back next year. The guy's been through a lot. I think, like Hood, he is having fun with this team, in this city. I think that is going to have a lot of value when it comes to decide the direction he wants to take his career.

Four years ago, when Afflalo stepped in for Wes after the achilles injury, wasn't it his shoulder that he injured shortly thereafter, thus severely limiting his effectiveness in the playoffs?

Is this a case of history repeating itself? If so, what are the chances of a second-year player at the same position having a breakout playoff series as a result?

Why the NBA doesn't market Dame and the Blazers is beyond me.

Blazers will offer Enes as much as they can. And it may be enough.

Hood is a keeper, but he's going to be last on the list of players we need to resign this year, as far as payroll considerations.

It's been said ad naseum, but we need a taker for Turner. Throw in some picks.

Look at how excited this dude is. But then think about this for a second.

Enes Kanter played on the 2016 Thunder team who lost in the WCF to the Warriors in 7 games. Enes Kanter knows the player Westbrook is, Enes Kanter has played with incredibly talented generational defining players. Enes Kanter knows what it was like for Dame to handle the series the way he did. Enes Kanter knows how historic a shot that was.

Look at how excited Enes Kanter is to be here in Portland playing with Dame.

Can we keep Kanter? Might he sign a one year deal with the intention of signing a longer deal the year after once our big contracts come off the books?

I could see him doing a one year deal to stay with the Blazers if he likes the culture and believes the team is a contender, and that he could get a bigger deal afterwards. He's still young, plenty of time for another big contract.

I really like him, but I don't see him signing for 5 million per year.
For one year if he believes it could lead to a title run?

I think it's possible but certainly not a sure thing.

One thing that might matter a little more: A starting center position.

Just about every other team, at least most of the playoff contending ones, either don't have a starting position available for a player like Kanter or are in the same financial situation as us. He's guaranteed to be the starter here until Nurk is fully healthy and even when Nurk comes back it could be awhile before he's ready for anything more than spot minutes. I don't see Kanter getting much more than about $10 million a year type offers so maybe he bets on himself putting up big numbers in our system next year and continuing to put to bed the myth that he can't play in the playoffs. It might be wishful thinking but I'm leaning more towards him signing a 1 year deal.

Was wondering that too, any armchair doctors on the board?
Why hell, I'm an armchair doctor. Take two aspirin and see me in the morning.

He's gonna get more than a one year deal, I guarantee it. Also, it will be with my blessing no matter what they pay him. Well, almost no matter what. $10 Million? Done.

He's excited? Hell, I'm excited.
