I've been wondering who could blossom (or rise up long, strong and firmly) into a star or at least a bonified 3rd or 4th option with star potential. Cissoko's tenacity at defense and his big smile and moxy while doing so really stood out to me. Coupled with his 3-point shooting and his ferocious drives with a slam-finish, popping off at the rim? Scoot might just be superfluous if this is just the beginning for Sidy.

I feel a lot better after the bad tasting spunk left in my mouth with the Blazers jerking through the motions much of the time, aimed aptly into our receiving receptacles. With all the losses we've had (metaphorically speaking, of course), I was getting ill AF with that mess.

Here's to cleaner games and cleaner clean-up times post-game from mid-game, necessary salvation distractions.

Nice to see some thumbs up! Is anyone else excited about his development? It feels like we lost Blake but gained the chance to see Sidy really shine. I think he is a sleeper hit/dark horse and just have a lot to feel good about with him.

I have no idea what is going on with his contract but I do think he should be signed to a full contract with the Blazers instead of a two-way.

Sidy Cissoko signed a 3-year rookie contract with the San Antonio Spurs in July 2023, worth over $5 million, but was later waived and signed a two-way deal with the Portland Trail Blazers in February 2025, with the original Spurs contract details showing potential earnings and guarantees across the years. His contract situation became complex after being traded twice at the deadline, ultimately landing him with Portland on a two-way contract, meaning he splits time between the Blazers and their G League affiliate.

Original Spurs Contract (2023-2026):

  • Term: 3 years, $5.23 million total.
  • 2023-24: ~$1.12M cap hit, with $855k guaranteed.

    • 2024-25: ~$1.89M cap hit, fully guaranteed salary.
    • 2025-26: ~$2.22M salary, with $0 guaranteed (as of the original signing).
Current Status (As of Feb 2025):

    • Cissoko was traded by the Spurs, then the Kings, and eventually waived by the Wizards.
    • He signed a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers in February 2025, a standard move for developing players.
Key Details:
    • He was a 2023 second-round pick (44th overall).
    • He played for the G League Ignite before the NBA.
    • A two-way contract allows him to be on the Blazers' roster but primarily play for their G League team, the Rip City Remix.

Thanks for all the info. I think he's a classic case of a guy who just hasn't been given enough time or chances to show what he can do or to develop into what he can fully do.
