Sign-and-trade Hickson this summer

Just because you have cap space, doesn't mean you have to use it. Again, that's unless I'm missing something about the situation here, like a lowering of the salary cap or something coming up...

Yes, we could delay our cap space until next summer... but we'd have to convince all our free agents to sign one-year deals. That won't happen. Maynor and Hickson would be gone for nothing, and we'd have to suffer through another shitty season with a horrible bench.

This is the summer. It's our last chance (most likely) to be in the lottery. It's our last real chance to hopefully sign a decent free agent before Aldridge, Lillard, and Batum eat up all our cap space.

What would be a better move long-term though, to use the cap space in a better free agency, or to spend the money this summer, just because it's there. If the move's not going to make you an immediate title contender, wouldn't it be better to just be patient and hold out?

At some point Aldridge is going to get fed up and demand a trade. The guy has said he's tired of losing. I don't blame him.

Letting assets walk for nothing is generally a very bad move for teams.

Unless you're going full tank commander.

Thats not a bad idea but generaly when your "Franchise" player is going to hit FA soon you want to try and please him and show improvement in the team at the same time. Also we have a decent amount of contracts that will go up next year cutting into whatever FA money we will have (Lillard/Mathews/Batum/LA/Freeland/Claver) will all get a pay raise like every player does on the next year of their contract, so if we want to be players in next years FA we would have to give away an asset or two to have the same capspace we would have this year. Add onto that the fact if we suck next year LA could demand a trade and we would have a bad situation were we have to either deal him or hope that our moves in the 2014 summer are good enough to improve our team to the point LA wants to stay. Trying to avoid having that situation with LA hanging over the teams head and having our team make desperation moves to try and keep him seems a good idea.

It would never happen. Hibbert is one of the few game changers left on defense now that Dwight Howard is a bum. He's a good reason why the Pacers are such a good defensive team.

I believe Ben Golliver just called JJ Hickson fools gold and compared him to Kris Humphries saying last season he was putting up all these great numbers, got the huge contract and is out of the Rotation in Brooklyn. Ben said it on Talkin Ball

Golliver gets his opinions from reading his own board. He knows less than most posters (all, if you exclude me).

Nope. Notice how he's all smiles after and during losses? Notice his flopping body language until it's time to pad his stats? He'll say the right words about wanting to win, though.

You know the greatest thing about Aldridge? That all management thinks you are an idiot for ever thinking Aldridge should be traded. And thank god for Aldridge, able to open things up for Lillard. He may never get these 30+ point games without Aldridge demanding doubles.

I'm not even tired of all the haters anymore. It's like being in full armor and some dipshit kid thinks he can use a wiffle ball bat to hurt you. It's comical at best.

If we traded Hickson to Indy for Hibbert, they'd get a big and valuable trade exemption, if I have that right.

Obviously, no kid ever whapped you with a whiffle bat. It hurts. In fact, you still need a good whiffle whapping, right now.

How is this hating on Aldridge? So you equate talking about possible trades as hating on him?

Wanting to trade Aldridge has nothing to do with the all season bullshit complaining; while they overlook piss poor shooting from another player making almost as much as him.

I've been open for trades, as long as we get a better player in return. Complaining about him in the middle of an impressive win over the spurs is exhibit A

I must be almost middle-aged. Whiffle bats have changed!

Is that a toilet brush?

I didn't see any complaining... who was complaining?

Hickson's stats were just as good as Aldridge's (allowing for a couple fewer minutes he played). Hickson's 19-point half embarrassed Aldridge into doing something. Then Lillard followed Hickson's lead and cleaned up in garbage time.

How does Hickson beating the best team on the league on their floor translate into, stop picking on Aldridge?

Take away any one player's points and the Blazers still win that SA game... except Lillard's.

Your hyperbole is ridiculous at times. Ask management if they must pick between Aldridge and hickson with a quality center and tell me what they say? I love me some hickson too. I just don't go out of my way to talk shit about a player while we are winning a game. It's childish and insecure.

Oh they weren't complaining cause they didn't have shit to say last night; but don't fear... It will happen the moment Aldridge has a subpar game; but completely ignore when any other player is playing like shit. Only way anyone doesn't say shit is when lma has monster games. And then we have the comment or excuse that "well he plays well against Texas teams". If that was the case; then he wouldn't be averaging 20+ points and 8.5+ boards for the season. Did I mention he leads the team in blocks?

Whatever man, we can cheer for a 42% sf that has more poor shooting performances this season than Aldridge had all career.

Be right back...They say they want Hickson! You lose!

I didn't post till a day after the game, but...ALDRIDGE FANS HATE CHILDREN????

I lose? How about we wager on which player is gone by next season.

I'll bet you a cigarette. I want that one in your mouth. So badly.

After never averaging more than 11.0 ppg in any month this season (not counting October since it was one game), Roy Hibbert has averaged 16.8 ppg in March, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor, which is more than 10.0 percent better than any other. The blocks have been nice, but this has been a long time coming for his fantasy owners, as after signing a max contract during the offseason, Hibbert’s 10.7 ppg and 1.4 apg have been his lowest since his rookie season, while his 43.5 FG% has easily been a career worst.

Hibbert isn't going anywhere. They didn't match to just turn around and trade him guys. It is all about the D he provides and now he is chipping in with some unexpected O.

Hibbert is one of their major reasons for success. There is no chance to get him unless they have some major meltdown or hibbert demands a trade (never happen)

He has been great for them but there have been reported rumblings from management and the owner that they should have let Hibbert walk. Those rumblings were months ago and have seemed to go away.
The only way I see them giving up Hibbert is if they are in need of shedding salary and either have or get a promising young center in return.

I think they are good shape with salary though.

They are until they have to give Paul George the max deal he will get. If they bring back both David West and extend Granger they will be screwed though.
