Anyone interested in playing sim league basketball? I am thinking about starting up a league. I have no idea how much time it would take since I have never played, but I can tell you all that sim league baseball is much less time consuming than fantasy baseball.

For those of you that aren't quite sure how it works, here is a brief overview

There is software out there (probably DDS is what I would use) with last years stats.
1. The games are played head to head, like a real NBA schedule.
2. You would draft a roster of 15, with a salary cap
3. You would pick your style of play, substitution patterns, and such
4. Teams then go head to head based on last years numbers

If there is enough interest shown, I will get the software and start a league.

I might be interested in something like that. Count me in.

Count me in. I'd be happy to set up some forums to organize it all.

But you have to be serious about seeing it through, please.

Sounds like fun, id be down.

I am. I've played sim league baseball for several years, and it is a blast. I'm not sure about software to use or anything like that yet, so it could be a rocky start

Consider the Cactus Development Basketball Sim also... was very good a few years back when I ran a league with it. Coaches can set roll files for starters, ~how many minutes they want each player to play etc..

I haven't tried DDS but I will have to check it out.

I will look at anything. Thanks for the input. I have never played sim basketball, so I really have no idea what to look for? I see there are several online versions, are they any good, or is it better to get software and create your own site?

I have been hearing good things about fastbreak pro basketball as well. It's very customizable

Ive been in a sim bball league for years. It just started back up and we are filling members. Speeds, myself and drexlersdad all participate. That league uses nba2k with sliders.

I'd be down if the software can run on my Mac (yeah yeah I know). :ghoti:

Interesting. It sounds like several of you will know a lot more about sim league b-ball than me. Is it good? bad? pros? cons? How often is it run? What stats do they use? How are salaries configured?

I think I signed up for the S2 league a few years back and started the drafting process, but flaked. : /

Yes, this wont. I am making it smaller to start, for one thing. I will also have another site set up for the league. The only thing this will have in common with the other is that it will have S2 people in it.

i tried to set one up with denny and a few others here a few years ago, its ALOT of work

my advice would be to get your system and program completely dialed in before anything else (draft, members, etc) thats what fucked us was that every program i ran wasnt as good as i wanted it to be, kg averaging 23 rpg, the league leader in apg was nash with 4, etc....it was hard to dial it in, but for all i know, there are much better programs than what i was trying to use

i was trying to use live or 2k so that i could upload screenshots and videos of games

I think I will be using fast break pro basketball. Strictly stat driven. I will make sure I have it all together before moving forward. I was strictly gauging interest

I think the most important thing will be which software/sim engine to use. Everything else should be great

Yeah--I was down last time, and I'd be interested in this as well.

I am going to try to get a website up for the league I think we will start with 12ish teams this year to make sure it's not too overwhelming out of the gate, work out some bugs and then expand gradually up to the final number, whatever that ends up being? I have 20 on the brain, but we will see

kinda need to go with 30 teams, unless you want to have expansion drafts whenever you add new teams, and that can just add more work

my advice is go with 30 teams with current rosters, easy peasy, and let'r rip

With advice from my friend who runs the sim baseball league I am in. I am going to start small, and expand.

So is there a cost associated MM? Like splitting the difference on the software, or is it free software? Also, do you envision it being a single year thing, or a franchise type of thing, we're we'd be drafting for now and into the future, like a keeper franchise, where we can maybe trade future picks, etc.

From what I am seeing so far it's pretty minimal, so cost isn't a big deal.

My goal is to have it be a franchise league. That is what I am going to do with the league. I have been in my sim baseball league for 15 years. In that league we have keeper players and the rest go into a pool. There will be a salary cap, maybe even a lottery? My vision is to try to make it as real as possible. Hopefully I can accomplish that so everyone that plays will have a great time

Ok, I realize it's really early, but I am having some anxiety about which sim engine to use. Ideally I am looking for a text driven game

Update: Smart people have created the forum, and am still making my way around the forum, playing with it, exploring it.....Think of the forum as Mrs. HCP
