Similarities to last year.

In both seasons, we played our best basketball of the season going into our game in Boston and after losing, completely fell apart, never to play the same. We're currently 6-6 since that loss after going 14-6 prior to the loss.

And now, we're about to go on an East coast road trip that could kill our season if Roy's not around to play in the games. Last season, Roy missed games in an East coast road trip because of a death in the family and we fell off the map in the playoff race during that trip.

I'm worried...

You are trippin...The top 9 in the west have separated from the bottom. Roy's out 7-10 days...big whooptee -doo. Contrary to what you expect the Blazers are right around where they should be for this year. So even if they lose every game without Roy then what??? 2 games out of the playoffs with 41 to go...oh no They could be back in 2nd in the west in 2 weeks for all we know

The biggest similarity is that we haven't made a significant in-season trade to address the concerns over perimeter defense and additional scoring (easy buckets, not jumpshots). I'm really hoping this is addressed or we may be doomed to repeat the past in missing the playoffs. KP is great on draft day, now he needs to prove he's able to upgrade the roster in a month besides June.

The reason why we haven't seen a major jump in production from last year is because we added Oden, Rudy, and Batum to the rotation, while subtracting Jack and Webster. It's hard to build on a season when half of your rotation is new, not just to the team but to the league (all rookies). We're playing extremely well considering our youth and inexperience. I would hope, however, that we make significant improvement later in the season as our rookies should have adjusted to the NBA. It seems like Rudy and Batum have hit the rookie wall though.
