Simons Slam Dunk Contest

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Weird that it would be Ant and not DJ (the reigning champion). According to an article I read from CBS sports there still is one spot open so maybe we'll have two participants.

Hopefully DJJ takes the time off to figure out how to complete a dunk in-game.
So you're saying Simons will begin to have trouble dunking after this event. Kind of like the Home Run derby?
Lots of batters win the HR derby and complain it ruins their swing and they have to relearn how to hit the ball.

We won't have to worry. Ant doesn't shoot anything inside of 23 feet.

I never really followed the guy before he came to Portland, but in his short stint here I have never seen a guy blow as many spectacular dunks as I have Jones. I hope that stink doesn't rub off on Simons.

What about Sheed? He used to missed a few nasty ones (I think due to his inability to palm a ball... really odd that a 6'10" guy doesn't have hands big enough to palm a ball).

Yeah, I forgot about how bad he used to be at it. As soon as you mentioned it, though, I had flashbacks. Man was that annoying, because the older he got the more he seemed to drift away from contact. He seemed to really let the refs and the blown dunks take him out of playing physical in the post.

Im just glad Im not a Mariners fan, the most mismanaged Pro Organization and the longest streak in MLB without a playoff appearance. You'd have to be a die hard Seattle fan to support that Org.

Right here. Like they say, "loyal to the soil".

Not to mention they are the ONLY team in MLB that has never even been to the World Series.

It's a really brutal existence. I've told this story here before, but, as a child (4 brothers) we were all "gifted" a baseball team at birth. Oldest brother got the Cubs, next got the Red Sox, I got the Mariners, next got the Marlins, youngest got the Rangers. All have won a World Series in their lifetime with the acception of the Mariners and the Rangers, but at least Texas GOT to one. I'm die hard and have more M's hats than I can count, but God damn it's been a tough run these past 32 years. At least I was able to enjoy prime Griffey.

Only 3 players participating... Cmon NBA, bring back the 8 player dunk contest. This is boring
Todays stars are weak and afraid of breaking a nail. The dunk contest was never better when the true stars were in it. Jordan, Dominique, Carter, etc.

Unfortunately the dunk contest should be named....the guy who made one contest. It's been a brickfest for a long time...if Ant can stick his dunks first try...he could win. Will Barton sure couldn't when he was a Blazer

OK I'm genuinely interested in this. Think Ant has the fluidity and hops to make dunks look good, but he doesn't have the power.

I want him to try a 720. He gets enough altitude to be able to do it.

last few weeks, i've noticed a marked change in the way he's attacking the basket. Not really trying to jump over guys to hammer it, but rather finessing it in. It's working.

He definitely has the jumping ability (there seems to be footage online of him almost hitting his head on the rim) but I can't seem to find any dunks that are out of this world creative or crazy.

I wish him well, but I hope it's not just another case of Rudy being a major disappointment (and the judges sucking ass and Kenny Smith being a complete ass clown).

Let's be honest, think there was a bit of xenophobia and ignorance with Kenny and Rudy there. The Fernando Martin stuff confused everybody.

But to me, the more disappointing one was with Dame when they changed the format to just get as many made dunks as possible rather than highlighting each go.

Ant is just so fluid when he jumps. I saw some clips of his dunk contests in High School and there's more power there than expected. Think he wins it. He needs to not bring Dame to lob him passes-- those will be disastrous.

Yeah, honestly it changed how I felt about Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller, but worse about Kenny Smith.

What happened to that franchise they always seem to have stars and atleast be consistent. They’ve had Ken Griffey, Randy Johnson, Arod, Ichiro, Garcia, these are some big names.

How’d they fall off so hard?

What’s the story behind not kissing the rim? Is it a COVID-19 thing? Going in for the kiss, remembering about COVID-19, then blowing the kiss instead?
