Simplified seeding

However, the 2 worst scenarios also involve DAL winning, so I'm going to root the most for HOU to win, and then just root for POR to win, if that makes any sense whatsoever...

Good point I didn't really think of it that way but I do agree the worst 2 scenarios are with a HOU loss.

I'd like to have the highest possible seed, but, call me crazy, I'm not so scared of the Lakers in the second round. They really did their best to win in Portland last week, kept the Blazers from playing their best game, and still lost. They'd have home court, but with the uneasy notion that if the Blazers could steal a game... At any rate, Portland would sure not be pushovers. Personally I'm more nervous facing Dallas, a lesser team that seems to have jinxed the Blazers this year, or Houston, with whom Portland does not match up well; the only win was on a Brandon Roy miracle shot.

But first, win the first round!

I would like the 3rd seed first because it would move HOU to the Lakers bracket. Secondly it would cause an LA matchup to be in the WCF on a higher stage. Playing LA in the second round will be premature and cause the WCF to be a bit of a letdown, from my personal purely theatrical point of view.

To simplify the complexity to its essence: If San Antonio wins, we must win to preserve home court. If SA wins and we lose, we are the 5th seed and lose home court advantage in the first round.
