Sitting in with Rip City Mornings

As I had posted in another thread, Rip City Mornings in conjunction with The Barber's was auctioning off some great stuff for their Peanut Butter Project for the Sunshine Division. Not only did I grab a year of haircuts and fifth row Blazer seats, but a behind the scenes look at production of a show. They let me take a friend so I rewarded the work Sly does for the site by inviting him. Also wanted to make sure there was no hard feelings between their show and our board.


First, I think everyone expects a big staff and space. The room we were in was maybe 12 X 12 with another room next to it that was supporting production. Second, Andy Bunker has a beard. I have tried unsuccessfully many times to grow one. Made the recommendation that he update his pictures on social media to reflect this since it definitely makes him look more Portlandish.

Most of the hour and a half they spent talking Blazers. Was expecting some Duck preview but think they made the right call in dedicating most of the show to last nights game. Why moan about a Duck team that is not meeting preseason expectations when you can talk about something positive? Also liked that they were able to add some humor into their BOLD PREDICTIONS bit. Give them some time and I think they will be able to find more entertaining things like this.


Between breaks and after the show were also spent talking local sports. They are definitely passionate. Glad to have spent my morning with them and they provided the donuts this time.

That was a lot of fun! A huge thanks to @Charcoal Filtered for taking me. Bunker and @Taylor Danforth were awesome! Really nice guys. What's different about them is they are fans first and radio guys second. It's really different from sports talk shows like Canzano were they look for controversy to drum up ratings. Just like most of us, Bunker and TD really enjoyed the game last night and were excited to talk about it.

Also they're going to start having Stotts and CJ weekly on the show. I talked with them about starting a couple of threads each week where you guys could post questions for them to ask Stotts and CJ.

Not to mention that they're really big on listener interaction. Heck, today Bunker was even talking to me via the studio cam during one of the commercial breaks. It really is a fun show to listen to and participate in. Glad to see continued interconnection between their show and our forum.

I cannot agree with this more. As you guys pointed out, only one team gets to be champion. It is a drag to hear constant negative radio because we are not that one team. This team is probably going to be more entertaining than last.

THIS I can agree with. The last 2-3 years were so predictable in terms of the offense.

Evidently they do podcasts and stream. Not for sure what those are but confident they do not play on my Atari.

The thing everyone should be taking out of this is that they have alot of free stuff. Getting a few likes for a smartass comment is cool but getting Blazer tickets for it sounds better.
