Skal to the Blazers!!

I always wonder when two teams make multiple trades within a season with one another if there isn't a little bit of "we'll let you win this one if you concede a little bit if we deal again" type of thing. Olshey seems to be big on favors. We gave up two 2nd round picks for Trent when the prior season that position was traded for just cash.

Or it could just be Divac was looking for cheap bigs under contract for multiple years instead of just one and was also unaware of Swanigan putting on so much weight again. Swanigan kinda plays like a very poor man's Vlade so maybe he thought he could develop him.
I tried that in Fantasy, though there wasn't an agreement prior too I just felt bad. It got veto'd lol.

Admittedly, I was only able to watch the first half of game 1, and didn't see the last game. But, in both games Skal had really great numbers, but every article I see seems to completely overlook his contribution. For those that watched, are his rebounds and scoring against the dregs of the other team, or is there some other reason he is getting overlooked.

I said previously that if Collins got Skal minutes in game 82 last year, he would have never put up the same numbers. Why isn't Skal getting any love for his preseason performances?

Idk but I want this second unit

Simons
Baze

I like it, but not sure Gasol could keep up with those guys. Aside from Gasol that squad is built for the fast break.

I kind of like it because of that, if a team makes them play half-court none of those guys excel there, Gasol will need to be a point - center in the high post for them to play through.

You’re not going to be fast breaking on every possession though. Gasol will be great for Skal as he can playmake from the top of the key. Aldridge benefitted greatly from him when they paired up.

I'm very excited to see Pau and Skal (maybe Moses Brown) play this season. All of them bring something to the team we really didn't have last season. Skal looks like a steal considering what we gave up for him. Sorry Biggie!

Alright. I see your point guys.
Option 1: fast break
Option 2 if fast break isn't available: throw it to Pau in the high post and watch the magic happen.
Kind of a random question, but I thought it was really just cool to see Pau and Nurk talking. Anyone else sit there and go, dang thats a 2x world champion and a super high basketball IQ guy teaching our young C how to play and go this is amazing???!

I can't think of a better player to have rubbing off on Nurk, Zach, and Skal.

I like what Skal showed in the preseason. He averaged almost three and a half offensive boards in only 18 mpg. He can score in a variety of ways. He can block shots. I don’t like him at center unless the other team is super small, his pick and roll defense is not where it needs to be (although if the guards did their jobs better it wouldn’t be such an issue) but he’s pretty solid in one on ones and as a help defender.

He should play over Tolliver, and I’m not even necessarily anti Tolliver.

I think it's a situational thing. If there's an opportunity for a big to score in the middle off the bench, Skal makes more sense. If you want more spacing, Tolliver. Neither are going to blow you away with defense, but at this point Tolliver is the better of the two.

TBH, I'd rather let Mario play some 4 and use Zach or Gasol at the 5. Our starters plus Baze, Mario, Ant and Gasol is already 9 guys. Leave both Skal and Tolliver on the bench for insurance. Neither is good enough to make you want a 10 man rotation.

It’s not like Skal can’t shoot though. His career 3pt % is actually higher than Tollivers, albeit a much smaller sample. But it at least shows he’s capable.

I just don’t see what Tolliver brings to the table that Skal doesn’t.

No I think Tolliver is much better at guarding the perimeter, limiting drives in the first place.

I’ve seen him get beat numerous times on the perimeter this preseason but ok we’ll see.

Dame says if they had to pick a training camp MVP it’d be Skal.

“I know he’s ready to play,” Lillard said. “If we had to pick an MVP from camp, it’s him, 100 percent, in my mind... I think that’s how good he was in camp on both ends. I think we’ve always known Skal is a really talented player, but you can tell he came into this camp with a purpose, trying to prove himself.”

Meanwhile, here’s what Biggie looks like as he’s got one foot out of the league

Didn’t Dame say Biggie was the MVP of training camp a couple years back? Hopefully this isn’t a curse of some kind.

Nah, he just said Biggie could play. But I bet that was draft process Biggie, when he was still in shape. Dame was talking up Skal last year too.

Hmm Dame was pretty emphatic on that. Sounds like at the very least he will contribute.

I don't need dame to tell me he's talented.
His talent was showing when he got chances with the Kings.
