This event needs to go. Last year sucked when they had all-stars dunking, now they have nobodies.

Giannas should be able to run away with it.

I'm with Simmons.... eject the dunk contest and add a HORSE competition.

Lower the rims to 9ft and let Jordan and Drexler go at it again.

Have a mascot dunk contest. Blaze could Aussie rappel from the rafters and dunk on his way to the floor...

Slam dunk contest became a joke when and ever since Cedric Ceballos won

Don't sleep on Lavine! That kid has Will Barton/Travis Outlaw/Elliot Williams type hops! I bet HE wins!

The slam dunk contest should be cool but somehow they've destroyed it. It's like they're trying to suck.

I'd only watch for Giannis.

Lavine can't even get burn on an 8 win Minny team. (or is it 7... or 9? Does it really matter?)

No it doesn't need to go! What they need to do is stop letting the damn fans vote for the All Star Game and let the fans vote for the All Star festivities such as, Three Point Shoot Out, Slam Dunk Contest, The game of Horse, Skills Challenge ect..... Then if a player truly can not go they can sub in the next best player that FANS ACTUALLY want to see for the event Thats what they need to do! Stop coddling these guys.

They used to have a mascot dunk contest at the All Star Saturday morning event. They might still. I don't know. I haven't watched in awhile. It was a big deal for me when I was younger.

BGD with a legit good idea. Looks like it was copied and pasted from somewhere though.

Who are you and what have you done with BGD?!?!

This just validifies my point in he other thread. Suck. My favorite competition has just gone to complete....

... Damn. Now, just use different color font, and this is perfect!

Pretty cute that you guys think the NBA would force players to participate in events because the fans voted them in. Players want to be an all star, they don't give a shit whether or not they are a dunk contestant(For the most part). A fan vote would be pointless for the Saturday events.

I don't think it would be pointless. The NBA and the Players both say it's a fans weekend so who gives a shit what the players want. They are already getting paid millions of dollars.

Like I said a few months back, are there any bigger fans of the NBA than Taco Bell, Sprite, KIA, Foot Locker, etc...

To your point - It would go like this: Fans vote Lebron, Lebron declines. Fans vote for Durant, Durant declines. Fans vote for Ibaka, Ibaka declines. Fans vote for Zach Levine because everyone else has declined. You don't actually think the NBA execs said "let's hurry and lock up Plumlee, Lavine, Oladipo, and Antentakumpo before they make their vacation plans", do you?

Just me, but I've never liked the dunk contest.

Boring...

Like I said...Give true incentive. First, the fans, in my opinion, should be just that...fans. Nothing more. Having them vote the starters is a huge mistake. Think of other sports and hall of famers and how important being in the allstar game or probowl is. Pretty big factor and letting the fans dictate who starts is not good for long term fame in my opinion.
The NBA and the teams who have players competing need to give more incentive. Bonuses. The injury rule doesn't work either, because you can get injured anytime during the season. It helps a teams publicity by having players in the competitions, so I see it as a win win all the way around. How big the bonuses should be? up for debate. Lol.

it's just a shadow of its former glory at this stage. that lineup is a fuckin disgrace.

Another thing the NBA could do is turn the dunk contest into something like more of an assist\showboating competition. So two or three players would have to work together and the assist could come from anywhere basically.

As a rookie on a tanking team... That's barely any burn in context.

That makes no sense. Minutes in the NBA is minutes in the NBA. You can say he's playing poorly (he is), but he's also 19 years old and learning on the job.

You know it's a copy/paste because it's all spelled correctly...

Maybe he's extremely intellectual, like Mensa smart, and we just bore him with our conversation. So in order to be entertained he decided to turn this forum into his own case study.

....Or maybe even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
