Interesting thing I heard watching Roseanne the other day. Does anyone know if it's true? Dan (on the show) went to lay down and Roseanne's mother said something like "don't sleep on your left side, it's bad for your heart." WTF? Is that true?

I heard the same thing plenty of times, I stopped sleeping on my left side after I heard that haha.

Hah, yeah, I heard something about this too in my Biology class last year. It's somewhat true I think, but obviously nothing serious enough to worry about.

I sleep on the left sometimes, it's almost half and half. It's wierd though, I wonder what the problem is.

Pretty sure it's that most of your body organs and heart, like they said in the show are on your left side, but yeah it doesn't make much sense.

I sleep on my left side sometimes. Fortunately, I move my sleeping position about every five minutes, so at least I don't get anything too bad.

Every time i get a stomach ache, I lay on my left side and it goes away... I've told other people to do it to and they said it works for them lol.

if we worried about everything that was bad for our heart we wouldnt be able to live..i dont even pay attention to how i sleep

I think it has to do with blood pressure and organs in your body. Basically it's the same mindset as when you raise your leg above your heart to get proper flow to it and so forth. I highly doubt that it's going to take years off your life, though.

My grandma's been sleeping on her left side forever...she's 78 and in good health.

I think this is bullsh** like the theory moms tell their kids. "If you make faces then they will get stuck that way". This is just retarded. Even if you sleep on your left side, how would it effect your heart? Your arm and ribcage would be in the way anyway.

It's like standing on your head, the blood flows to your head easier since your head is now BELOW the heart, so you get a blood rush. And it sucks.

It's really annoying, so I sleep on my right side.

Sleeping on your left side is just a superstition, however I do reccomend that if you wanna get the most rest out of your sleeping time that you lay on your stomach and not on your back. I read somewhere that you get more rest because you let your organs, heart, etc. rest more on your stomach.

I'd suggest that you not sleep on your stomach, because it's terrible for your spine. Hint: Back pain is one of the most common physical problems in America.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I highly doubt that it's going to take years off your life, though.</div>Ya, somehow I think that none of the the billions of the people that have lived would have died because they lay on their left side.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'd suggest that you not sleep on your stomach, because it's terrible for your spine</div>But then you get bored that way. So, it appears you can only safely sleep on your right side.

you know you guys move around when you sleep? so when you sleep it doesn't MATTER how you start.. because you'll move like 30 minutes later or something. do you guys ever sleep one way.. and then wake up in the exact same position? yea thought so.

For most people, sleeping on your stomach isn't that good for you.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (regularguy @ Aug 11 2006, 03:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>do you guys ever sleep one way.. and then wake up in the exact same position? yea thought so.</div>Yep, sure do.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>you know you guys move around when you sleep?</div>I am fully aware of that, since I move about 20 times before I go to sleep anyway.
