Got to work today to find this in my parking spot. It looks like it fell straight out of the sky. Contacted ODFW, but I feel like this is some sort of omen for the Civil War this year..

Were there any beavers around?

About 20 years ago me, my brother and mom and step dad use to go far NE in Washington state where my mother's cousin had a fabulous cabin on the Kettle river. My step dad and I would go out back on the deck, drink beer and watch the river and first an Osprey eagle sitting on it's nest on top of a tree with the top sawed off. Later that huge Osprey got kicked out of it's home by a majestic Bald eagle. Then maybe two or three times a week a Beaver would swim in the river right past us. Did I tell that I graduated from Oregon State which makes me a Beaver? Now how cool is that.

Pretty damned cool Lanny. Thanks for that story. That sounds like it was awesome. Nature and some beers with family is one of the most relaxing things I can think of. Just taking life in.

It was at least a mile or more to the next cabin through a thick forest. We had tons of squirrels, wild turkeys, deer, elk, ducks and quail, also one Bald Eagle that I've seen chasing a duck in and out of the trees along one of America's cleanest rivers. After we got home I read about a cougar that attacked a toddler and got hunted and shot by the locals all of whom hunt.

That sounds like an amazing place. Peaceful. No distractions.

I hope the Toddler turned out ok. Don't mess with hunters.

That is pretty awesome, Lanny. A few years back I was on a float down the North Santiam and witnessed a bald eagle and an osprey have a little dogfight over a fish. The bald eagle won that one too.. One of the coolest things I've ever seen first hand in nature.

Go Beavs!

The grandmother beat the cougar off with a broom as it was dragging the toddler off towards the woods. The toddler was okay although I might imagine they had to immediately change it's diapers.

I witnessed a similar battle over a fish between an eagle and osprey on the columbia. For Father's day last year, I went on a cruise on the sternwheeler. They both had a hold of it and were turning in circles and plummeted from high as they fought. The eagle won.

Damn that's one hell of a grandma. I'm sure.

They're both eagles, just different kinds.
I worked on Boeing's V-22 Osprey.
