Josh Boone may have changed the Nets more than anyone thinks last night. If there was anyone not pulling their weight before last night, it was Boone, who wasn't even averaging a point per game, making mistakes on offense and defense and seemingly out of mental shape.</p>

That said, if he continues this effort--and he was playing against some young and skilled athletes last night--then Jamaal Magloire is unlikely to see much time, particularly if Krstic eases his way back.</p>

In certain systems, Magloire would have value. He is in good shape and in an offense where the center doesn't have much of a role, he could help. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nets start offering him around in three weeks. By then, the Nets will have seen more of Sean Williams, Boone and Krstic and know what they will be capable of. You would lose toughness and some rebounding skills, but if the team still needs shooting, he might be the bait. Remember, the Nets were able to get rid of Jackson and McInnis because another team suffered injuries.</p>

I was happy to see Boone's game last night. Although he still did have some mistakes as he had the previous games this season, he slowly started to seem like the Boone that we saw the 2nd half of last season. I almost forgot what a Boone dunk looked like! That said, I really like Mags and would like to see him step his game up. I'm not sure if the Nets will shop him around though..I think Thorn still wants that tough big man player on the team...but you never know. What would we get in return for Big Cat? And most importantly, what are we interested in?
 
I think Seany has taken on the role as a tough guy. The frontcourt is just to crowded. If Malik didn't have an outside J, he would have been gone but that's what's keeping Malik in front of Magoo.</p>

How about Mikki Moore? Didn't Mikki get 18 million for 3 years? He's not living up to expectations with Sacramento.
I think he's getting 5.3 million this year so Thorn would have to find a way to save 1.3 million to stay under salary cap.
What a shame - Thorn could have kept Mikki with a little better offer.</p>

What about Big Baby and another player (to match salaries) from Boston. Boston is looking for experience and since they are in "another league" with New Jersy, we wouldn't be a threat to them. Magloire would be thrilled to go to Boston and we have roster space available.</p>

welcome to the boards jerry! wow...bringing back Mikki to the Nets. that'd be pretty cool! I think he really enjoyed playing over here, he doesn't seem to have that same passion over in Sacremento.

Huh? Why would the Nets want Mikki Moore who has proven in Sacramento just they believed: without Kidd AND Carter, he is not worth anywhere near the MLE? You want a team that has busts with free agents, go east on I-80 out of San Francisco.</p>

And why would the Celtics give up Glen Davis, age 21, for Jamaal Magloire, age 29?</p>

If the Nets dump Magloire, I assume it would be for a shooter. Maybe J. R. Smith will screw up again in Denver and KMart will have to sit.</p>

Magloire will be here for the rest of the season unless/until he starts to gripe. I give that approximately 12 days.</p>

As for Boone--he's getting pushed around in the post a little much, especially when trying to box out for rebounds, but he still has potential and I can't believe that any fan is ready to give up on him, especially given his two surgeries and Antoine's experience. Maybe Aldridge is just a lot bigger and stronger than he was, and it was a bad matchup for him. The Nets were going with Boone as the lone big for a large chunk of the second half last night. I obviously like him better than Magloire, though.</p>

So are you denying that Mikki Moore would be better for the Nets than Magloire, right at this moment (not considering the 1.3 M salary difference)? DA, who spoke candidly about Mags. in preseason, said that Magloire needs lots of playing time to be successful. Well? LF should consider giving Mags. big minutes on some nights. Otherwise he is doomed to fail. If Magloire is the Nets best rebounder (next to SWAT and possibly JKidd) and if he is the best "enforcer", then all he needs is some competence on offense and he might be worth keeping. If only someone could teach Magloire how to follow through on free-throws and complete some moves inside of 5 ft. from the basket, - hard to teach an Old Dog simple tricks.</p>

Regarding Glen Davis, I thought Boston needs insurance (experience on bench) to go all the way. Boston is playing for NOW and NJ is no longer competition this year. Most of the time a 35th draft pick is no comparison to a 29 year old former All Star. If you agree that Big Baby would be better for the Nets than the present level of Mags., then maybe some packaged deal could be put together.</p>

In any case New Jersey needs to increase the value of either Mags or Boone, by playing them, before making any trade. </p>

I vote to keep Malik Allen since he is athletic, which goes with the team style. Allen is just in a shooting/confidence slump (like Boki was) and besides, he won't complain about minutes (like Mags soon will) and he is Vets Min. salary.</p>

I have no idea how we get a trade for BB. Mags makes too much to trade for him. If Rondo goes down they may want a pg, Eddie Gill for BB works, but it's idiotic. They need him and the only way to unload Mags is for Scal/BB which hurts Boston. A 3 team trade is the best option. So I don't think it'll happen..

After considering what Darrell Armstrong said about Magloire, the best way to get the most production from Mags. is to start him.</p>

As LF says, starting isn't what is important, its how many minutes, especially in key situations that counts. Even if Mags. only plays the first 6 minutes, it makes him feel good, while the Nets get the best rebounding center when he's in the game. Collins doesn't play any different when he's not starting. Collins knows he can't be traded and will always get playing time with LF. By starting Magloire we avoid a nearly certain bad situation (just like with Marc Jackson). In LF's mind, starting doesn't mean much, but following a routine does. Right now LF isn't either following a routine and he's pissing off Magloire at the same time. At the same time, management can be looking for the right deal (for their "starting" center) if it happens to come along.</p>

On the other hand starting SWAT is no big deal for SWill, except that in order to for him to get the 30-35 minutes (or until he reaches 5 fouls) of playing time he deserves, he needs to get significant playing time in each quarter. If LF thinks he needs SWAT to come off the bench to give the team a boost, thats fine as long as he tries to get 30-35 minutes out of him every single night.</p>

Since Krstic complains that he needs a few minutes just to warm up, yet his total effective minutes are limited, I would start Krstic after half-time so he can warm up a bit. If he's playing well, give him more 2nd half quality minutes. If he continues to suck, but he needs playing time to improve, then just send him to D-League for a few weeks!</p>

I agree. I don't think that many people even realize Boonie got surgery in the offseason. I suspect it's affected him more than we know.</p>
