Smith had to have known this was coming when they brought Maynor onboard. He was asked him if he has reached a new level of frustration with the news of him being relegated back to the backup to the backup point guard.

“Not really,” he said. “Not at this point. I'm beyond getting frustrated. Things change. Now I'll just laugh, smile, live life. It's a business, man. I talked to my teammates, it's a business.

I'm all for people being confident in their abilities, but maybe if you didn't suck as a PG....

Isn't Smith really an SG in a PG sized body?

Why not make him backup SG and see if he can't recapture some of what made him an all-American at Duke?

Smith's highest upside would be a Jason terry type combo guard. He needs confidence

He just needs to improve his shooting, dribbling, and passing.

And his defense.

he's beyond frustrated? maybe he's been watching the game tapes too? cause watching his play on the court has been pretty damn frustrating...

Smith is lucky to even be on the team right now. Reading between the lines of what Olsey(sp?) said after the Maynor trade, I would imagine that Olsey wanted to cut Smith to create the roster spot.

I would bet there are still some indiviuals in the orgionazation who still believe in Smith (after all, they are the ones who drafted him). Olsey knows that the choice between Smith & Price will not make a difference. Neither one would be on the team next year anyhow...

Nolan Smith is not thread worthy.

You're right. But I'm talking about a comment he made about the fact the Blazers traded for a player.

So...#failonyou!

;)

I'm a patient man. I'll wait to see how Nolan does backing up Matthews. Then I'll call for his head. ;)

Because he sucks at SG as much as he does at PG? I don't understand this idea that Smith is a good basketball player at SG. He's fucking terrible. At everything.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Benny from total recall?

I can't believe Nolan is getting dissed like this. I mean, the guy has had a huge impact on the basketball culture here.

He's already inspired nicknames like "The Towel", "Tank Smith", "Plan C", and "The Human Trap Drill".

What a legend.

he's just too slow..add to the fact he can't shoot, finish, or pass....um yeah..have fun in euro leagues bruh

Where/when did he say he was surprised? I hate inaccurate thread titles.

Olshey should have kept Price for the rest of the season. Smith or Babbitt should have been the one to go.

In his first game Maynor wasn't clearly better than Nolan has done lately but I don't think it is close to any stretch to say the team was clearly better with Maynor manning the second unit.

Perfect explanation. The lack of turn overs and confidence to shoot the ball is a godsend compared to the scrubs we had coming in at point

Chad.

Buchanan.

Were people on here clamoring for him to be have the "interim" tag lifted and be given the GM position permanently? If so, were they the same people who were hoping Canales would also have the "interim" tag lifted and hired as our HC? Those two guys have proven to be incapable at the jobs they filled in for. I can (kinda) understand keeping Kaleb on as an assistant, but not as the LEAD defensive assistant...more like a "grab the gator-aid bottles and watch from afar" assistant coach. And if Chad was our lead scout (that's what he was prior to interim-GM, right?) he should just be fired - like, years ago.

I wanted neither

I think what people need to understand is that we passed on Faried because of the deal with Denver.

Oh, I totally get that. Never doubted that for a second.
I just seem to remember a whole lot of questionable draft picks made while Chad was "lead scout". It's been a while since I've thought about it, so forgive me if my memory is fuzzy.
