So how close is Damion Lillard to unseating Terry Porter now?...

Among this season's rookies, we have the 11th youngest and 11th oldest. Lillard, despite 4 college years, is younger than average (35 out of 78). Barton is 29; Claver 57.

So is this a good time to bring this thread back? What kind of progress has Lillard made in climbing the Blazers PG ranks?

Lillard is not playing basketball right now so I'd say it's not the best time to judge his improvement.

How about we have a few more seasons. Right now, Lillard isn't even at the level of Damon. A few more healthy seasons and we can really have this discussion
:smack:

You gotta be kidding me... How many All Star games did Damon qualify for?

Regarding the OP:

Your moniker is:

BigGameDamian and you spell his name Damion?

Yeah, I'd say fans not knowing how to spell his name is a pretty clear sign Lillard has not arrived.

Exactly, The Blazers just finished there season so couldn't it be considered a great time for this question?

So, when are we drafting Damion Lillard, Damian?

I hope he is a PG. The sooner we can replace our horrible 3 shooting, overrated to the exteme, non clutch, bad passer, cant inside the afc, cant finish and dont even get me started on his defense, PG the better our team will be

Don't forget he's a raging alcoholic.

Despite Damian's late season shooting struggles, I'd say he's as good as Porter was offensively....scoring wise. Because now he's good at taking the ball to the rim like Porter was. However, Porter was much better defensively and at running the fast break.

My bad. Didn't look at the date. :smiley-pat:
I know, right? Any bumped posts older than a couple of weeks should be shaded differently. Maybe one color for 2 weeks to 1 month, a slightly different color for 1 month to 3 months, etc.

Either that, or make the damn dates more prominent...

Really Please? For those of use who dont make it one here for a week at a time, I just read through four different topics and liked a bunch of statements from almost 3 years ago, lol...

Not to mention I quoted three people I was about to chastise for being very wrong, but caught the date of their post JUST in time.

Man. The things I was about to say might ahve got me labeled a troll for sure. HAHA

Anyhow, this is a great idea in my opinion and I would give it a 14 day buffer. Anything older than 2 weeks gets a different shade upon the initial comment. Once a second comment is made within 2 weeks, it changes back to normal.

Please help us who miss the details. ;)

WTF are you talking about? Lillard is 2 time All Star. Damon never was. Dunleavy wouldn't let Damon play 4th quarters. Lillard owns them.

I will kindly disagree. Aldridge is better than Buck Williams, Batum is better than Kersey. We just need Drexler. As for the bench... I wholeheartedly agree that they are nowhere near the bench of that team.
Jesus Christ. Kersey was way better than Batum is.

I have him ranked as the third best Trail Blazers PG of all time, behind Porter. Just slightly ahead of Strickland.
ROY, 2-time All Star, Series winning shot advancing team to 2nd Round of 2014 playoffs - he's really good.

For him to pass Porter, he needs more years at same or better level of play, and he needs to lead us or be a major part of a team that gets to the 2nd round again or both. He doesn't have to get to the finals, because he's individually a more skilled offensive player than Porter IMO. But he has to make teammates better in the process.

There are several ways to look at this.

If your talking strictly offensive skills? Dam already has. He is a more skilled player with a much better overall shot.
If your talking defense? I don't think he ever will. Porter's D was top notch.
IF your talking leadership/distribution skills as a point guard? hmm, definitely not yet, but the way he seems to want to improve and the strides he has taken, as long as he becomes more of a pass first PG, I think he will surpass in the next 2 years.

As an overall PG with all of these combined? For me it will require a improvement in his D and his assists to come up to about 8.5 per game. This will mean more distribution and ball movement. Hopefully through more pick and roll play as we teach our bigs how to screen better with Kaman as big coach. ;)
If this hapens, I say he will absolutely become the greatest PG ever and it wil hapen as son as he gets the aforement
