are the contracts still as they are? do they just move back a year or do they lapse? are they essentially frozen?

meaning, do we have a year of Oden or not?

If so, our guys could use the rest.

riddle me this?
:MARIS61:

Be afraid, be very afraid!

Larry Miller is steering this ship and he already made Oden a one-year rental.

I think a year runs off the contracts, meaning GO is a UFA.

but the players aren't getting paid for cancelled games....so if the entire season is cancelled, aren't the contracts "frozen" since there wasn't a season to play?

fuck, that would suck if he were and UFA. with 2 years rest and recovery.

so.......yes or no?

If this season is lost I think we've seen the last of G.O. in Portland. Even if there were a season, he's bolting IMO. He's already said he feels like he "don't owe Portland anything, I just want to play."

I place this blame on Larry Miller.

He set us up for an absolute piss hurricane with Oden.

ah yes, his excel spreadsheet told him to be a dumbass!

To be fair this team is probably "fucked" with Oden too. Is this guy really capable of playing an 82 game season plus playoffs? I have serious doubts.

Worst case of course is that he bolts, we get nothing in return and he has a miraculous recovery and never gets hurt again playing for the Miami Heat, helping them secure 5 championships, but seriously, how likely is that? The truth is that he's a slightly awkward, colossus with a brittle body, 2 balky knees and much less potential to turn into something special than he was 4 years ago coming out of Ohio State.

Realistically he's probably capable of getting lucky and averaging maybe 68 games a year putting up so-so to slightly --above average numbers -- say 12 points, 8 boards and a blocked shot or so in roughly 30 minutes per night-- and playing the role of a secondary contributor for a team with 2 or 3 elite players.

In reality you only need Oden to play 60 Games plus be healthy for the playoffs. Seems a better situation then 82 but also about as far fetched and Shaq Untiring and posting 35 10 while playing 82 games.
