So many mass shootings this week.

Thoughts and prayers for all involved. And I pray nobody uses this for political purposes.

My sympathies go out to family and friends of the victims.

This remote area is a very strange part of Washington State, it that attracts a lot of bad people. The man that killed his family and himself had a very long rap sheet. This area has one of the highest crime rates in the State.

Not making big news, but not too far from this tragedy, Selma Hayak has a ranch in Yelm WA.. One of her pet dogs was shot and killed a few days ago on her property. No reason or motive is known, no suspect.

As opposed for religious purposes?

As a gun owner, discussing gun safety doesn't bother me.

As a gun owner, I agree. Gun SAFETY should be EVERYONE'S responsibility.

Gun CONTROL, on the other hand, has no business in a civilized, responsible, law-abiding society that values the Constitution.

Really? No gun control what so ever? Felons? Children? Illegal Aliens?

I guess we'll agree to disagree.

I see. You're using extreme hyperbole to try and start an argument. Not gonna work.

That's not extreme hyperbole, that's logical and reasonable gun control.

You're the one who said this, "Gun CONTROL, on the other hand, has no business in a civilized, responsible, law-abiding society that values the Constitution."

I'm very politely saying gun control has a place in a civilized, reasonable, law-abiding society that values and respects the Constitution.

So....you assumed (not sure if serious) that I was talking about letting felons and illegals have guns?

Sly...I KNOW you're not that stupid. I know you're not.

I think it's reasonable to believe I was talking about the type of gun control that tells you how many bullets you can have in your gun, what kind of rifle you can own based on what it looks like, what type of ammunition you can carry, and where you can legally carry a concealed weapon (and who's allowed to receive a CWP based on the politics of the area you live in).

THAT type of gun control.

I've learned not to assume anything on here. If I remember right, MarAzul believes in no gun control. There are some that believe any gun control violates the constitution.

Is murdering your family really a "mass shooting"?

Don't you know the rules of the Liberal Media? If it's 3 or more people shot, even if they don't die...then it's a "mass shooting".

Funny though....they don't call it mass shootings in Chicago....

I think, overall, we're fine as a country on where we are right now with Gun Control. For now.

In more isolated areas throughout the country though, I believe there needs to be serious changes; most of all in California. That whole state is a mecca for violating the 2nd Amendment.

The states of Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Vermont and Wyoming allow citizens to carry concealed firearms without a permit.

Lawmakers in Idaho and Wyoming are pushing to pass a law that will allow citizens to carry concealed firearms without a permit. Not much progress in Idaho yet, they are still debating the issue. However, a Wyoming state legislative panel approved their plans, which increases the odds it will pass into law.

If I had any state to move to from Washington, it would probably be Arizona; more specifically the Flagstaff area. I hear it doesn't get too hot there in the Summer, which is nice because I absolutely HATE the heat.

But if Idaho passes Constitutional Carry, then that would make it appealing as well. Especially since it's not as far of a drive to move there.

Would you believe me if I told you that some dipshit on 49er Forums tried to argue with me once that ALASKA has more gun violence than CALIFORNIA?

SMH.

I bet against bears they do.

And moose. I bet there is very little gun violence against moose in California.

Many areas of Idaho have some of the lowest crime rates in the country, if that is a concern to you. (It was for me)

One of the reasons for the low crime rates in Idaho. You can carry a concealed firearm without a permit anywhere on your own property, or, anyone else’s property that gives you permission. There are also many areas outside of city limits where you can carry concealed without a permit. The new law would allow concealed firearms anywhere without a permit, including within city limits. (Where most of the crime is)

2013 Violent crime rates by state per 100,000 inhabitants.

Arizona........ 405.8
Washington. 277.9
Oregon......... 242.9
Idaho.............204.7

If you want to look up crime rates for a specific city, try the City-Data link below. You can get crime rates for a specific zip code. Click on the state you want, then go to the link at the bottom center of the page below the cities listed.

It appears the crime rate in Flagstaff is slightly higher than average.

Just curious: where did you get those violent crime rates?

602.6 violent crimes for Alaska vs. 396.2 for California?

I'm sorry, I just don't know how much of this I can really take seriously. I mean...what the fuck are Alaskans being so violent over, and where/to whom? Are they assaulting Moose or something? It makes zero sense.

Unless....you want to argue that drug use is a contributing factor in the crime rate? In which case, I suppose I could believe that, since it's an isolated area up there.

All civilized, responsible, law abiding society's in the world must value the US Constitution?

I'm a gun owner who would welcome some well conceived gun restrictions that 1) keep firearms out of the hands of people on certain medications or with certain mental diseases or deficiencies, 2) require guns not on ones person to be locked away or secured, 3) registration of all sales, not just ones through firearm retailers. I would also like concealed carry permits to require some competence training in both safety and aim, and I have carry permits in both OR and WA.

All civilized, responsible, law abiding society's in the world must value the US Constitution?

And why not? What's so terrible about the US Constitution that it should be ignored or, at the very least, not taken seriously as a document to build on when empowering the people with Inalienable Rights in other countries? Especially developing countries.

I believe our Constitution can be a good model for other countries to build from.
