Great post. And remember- we've done all this without Tony Snell!! Just wait til he plays! It means...
Billups >> Stotts
Nance, Zeller >> Melo, Kanter
A team with the Lillard/CJ backcourt can be a top defensive team.
Instead of cringing when the starters go out, I feel warm inside because Ant and Nas are growing up before our eyes.
We don't need to trade CJ for Ben Simmons, and maybe shouldn't.
Olshey had a fantastic offseason.
It's still early and we blazer fans are an excitable lot.

Defense is active at this stage of the season but the question is can they like this the rest of the year when players get ding up and and the bodies get tired. Right now Billups is not putting a lot of minutes on Dame or CJ because players like Simons and Little and others coming in either keeping the lead the same or increasing the lead.
Watch how they respond on the road. Blazers have been playing at home for the most part.It means...

Absolutely. But on the other hand....Watch how they respond on the road. Blazers have been playing at home for the most part.
Typically your bench or rotational players do not play nearly as well on the road. Lillard is struggling thus far.
The only downside...Olshey had a fantastic offseason.
Nah bro. It means-
They got beat by the Kings at home who are probably a middle of the road possible playoff lower seed team.
It means they beat a really good team that had played in LA the night before on a B2B with two days rest. "Suns"
Then they absolutely got their asses handed to them by the Clippers who are without their best player and two solid rotational players.
Then they played a solid game against a good team which showed promise last year. The Grizz
Then they actually showed up against the Clippers at home and beat a team missing it's best player and two solid rotational players.
It means they are 3-2 heading out on the road for three games
First up a 4-2 Hornets team that is playing really well and will be a tough game. They have beat the Pacers, Nets, Cavs and Magic. Three of their wins are on the road.
Then the 76'ers who are also 3-2 and have been in some good games. Could very easily be 4-1.
Then they play the Cavs who are 3-3 and have a good group and have beat the Hawks, Nuggets and Clippers.
This is 3 games in 4 nights and the Philly game is the second of a B2B.
If the Blazers can go 1-2 on this trip it will be a respectable run and they will return home 4-4 or a .500 team. Sure would like to see 2-1 but lets be honest. So far the Blazers have played only one road game thus far and it didn't go well at all.
The pessimism is strong with this one.
First game, new coach, new system, new scheme, CJ was trying too hard to be what he isn't. Second half was much more in keeping with what we've seen the rest of the year.Nah bro. It means-

30 turnovers, and couldn't hit a shot. In fact, it is the only time a Blazer team has ever had 30+ TO's and FG/3P %s below 40%/25% respectively, and only the 14th time it's ever happened in league history. An aberration game to say the least. Then they absolutely got their asses handed to them by the Clippers who are without their best player and two solid rotational players.
the radio guys said the Blazers had 30 turnovers against the Knicks in a win the last time they had that many....I think they said it was in the 80s..so their point was we did win a game with 30 turnovers ...strange bit of triviaFirst game, new coach, new system, new scheme, CJ was trying too hard to be what he isn't. Second half was much more in keeping with what we've seen the rest of the year.

What we've seen in 3 1/2 games is a consistent, repeatable defensive scheme and intensity, and a consistent, repeatable offensive mantra to push the pace, attack the rim, and dictate to the opponent. From a team that has had five regular season games under this coach. FIVE! It takes a concerted effort not to be encouraged by what we've seen so far.

Agreed on all counts.Pretty much my point except i didn't add any opinion based issues. I just spoke of the facts.
Again i don't disagree with your opinion here but it is some fact filled with opinion.
Fact- They are 3-2 after playing 4 home games and the game on the road they got blown out.
Another fact. The next 3 games are against fairly good teams on the road and they have one B2B coming.
Opinion- Very good chance they will be 4-4 coming back from the road trip. Still a .500 team. We all love the improvement on the defensive end to this point. If they stay healthy they could continue to improve. I happen to be a little skeptical still of their offense and in the end good teams can score. No i am not saying i want to dump defense for offense. I'm saying i would like to see continued improvement before I jump on the wave of optimism coming from many on this board.
Totally agree.Agreed on all counts.
However, I am not sure how important record is. My Blazer religion is that if we start to actually play "the right way" (i.e. with good defense), then over the long 82 game NBA season, we'll be fine. As you say, being .500 while still learning the defense is fantastic, imho.

He's the Wizard! Of course he's a non profit entity. Now off you go an your merry way. Just take that road made with Bricks and painted yellow."Blazer religion"? are you tax exempt?
