I said it at the start of training camp the west is deep but not top heavy this year. Denver got a 3 seed last year. Come in and hop on the homer coolaid bandwagon.

I don't expect us to be a top3 seed but I think if a few lucky bounces go our way we could be right there jockeying for position with the other playoff teams in the west, at least in the regular season.

I never understood why so much of the national media was picking us to finish well out of the playoffs. If we were in NY I think the coverage and expectations would be much different.

I don't think we'll be top three, but I've thought since the summer that we could be a 5th seed.

I'll wait for about 20-25 more games. WAAAAY Too early.

Hell we are going to win the top seed of the West! You heard it here first.

We can be if the way we are playing now isn't our "A-game". If the way we are playing is the highest to this teams capability then 6-8 seed it will be.

Lot's of room for improvement, starting with Lillard. If he can get his layups to fall and improve his vision this team is up there with the likes of San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and Golden State out west and may be better than all of them eventually.

I was sooooo sure we'd be top 4 that I bet a steak dinner with the HCP. I have an empty seat next to me if anyone wants to sit next to me! :)

I think our ceiling is a 5 seed. Floor probably at ~9th.

I wouldn't let our record get to our heads. We've played a very easy schedule so far. Let's see where we stand after this road trip.

I just really don't see us finishing top three. I definitely think we're a playoff team, and I think we could finish as high as 5th though. Amazing what a difference a bench can have though, right?

as a fan from beaverton id say very unlikely anything but the 7th or 8th seed.

We could very well be the 3rd seed......if we were in the east. That conference is wide open after Miami and Indiana.

In the west......I don't see it. I would say 4th is a long shot. 6th is a slight possibility.
But as we all know it all comes down to injuries. Which teams will be hit?

The road trip will be a telling tale. There are some winnable games that last season's team just couldn't get. Most due to a shitty bench. If our bench can help us win these "winnable games" then we are surely for real.

you are aware that you still have the post history of Carlito, right?

If you want to come back as a different fan, I get that. But at least be smart about it.

Now, as for the 7th-8th seed, I do actually agree. The Blazers have played a relatively easy schedule. They did beat the Spurs (and lost to Houston and Phoenix), but they've beaten a bad Detroit team, a bad Sacramento team (twice) and a bad Denver team.

So far, 1 legit victory (in the sense of SOS). Let's wait until they've played a month or more before we decide anything about their chances.

Is it possible to be a 3rd seed? sure. But it would take a lot of dominoes falling in their laps.

Our schedule has been ridiculously easy to this point.

This topic is as as ridiculous as the ones saying we suck after 6 games with a really hard schedule

How has it been "ridiculously easy?"

We had Phoenix. They've been one of the surprises of the season so far.

We had San Antonio.

We had Houston.

We had Denver AT Denver (which is never easy).

I don't care what Detroit's record is, that's a talented team and I think their record doesn't reflect how good they will be. Also, they just got Jennings back from injury.

Exactly... I keep hearing how our schedule was ridiculously easy. I still don't know how they believe that. A math program doesn't tell the entire story anyway.

We haven't won in Denver for centuries and we already played 2 b2b games.

Love this so far, theD with Lopez and Freeland has been great to see, but as long as the Blazers are worst or close to worst in the league at scoring in the paint top 3 seems out of reach. Lillard, Wes and Batum need to drive hard a little more often. LMA too I suppose, but he is doing so well in his position right now it's hard to complain.

We have literally played two games where we should have been in danger of losing. Both at home vs the Rockets and Spurs. we won won of those and lost one of them. Phoenix may be a surprise, but they aren't that good. Sacramento is garbage, and Detroit, while maybe ok, was a home game. That is a very easy schedule to start the year to this point.

Nate has been right about teams allowed to body us on the perimeter. Lillard and Aldridge are seriously getting hacked in the paint. It's hard to score when the other team can grab and hack you. I'm still soooo confused why Aldridge doesn't get love in the paint. It's becoming comical, especially seeing other teams get foul calls from being breathed on.

Plus we haven't had any second game of back to backs against a rested opponent.

Phoenix is 5-2, so saying they are "not that good" is pretty comical. Sas was a b2b game, traveling all the way from Denver. Houston was lost because the refs completely ruined our timing with ticky tac fouls. Sac was a b2b game , which is always hard.

Sac IS garbage, but it's extremely difficult to beat a team twice in a row like that. I also think Phoenix is much better than you give them credit. I think they're playing over their heads right now, but I think they could potentially compete for the 8th spot. They'll be one of those teams that nips good teams because they have such a good backcourt.

I personally love the "we've beaten easy teams" line, really love it! Why? Because last year with our historically crappy bench we still beat the best. World Champs? Beat 'em. 1 Basket from World Champs? Beat them too, this year and last. Team that's undefeated this year? We beat them last year as well. We beat great teams, period.

The problem is that we've lost to the most horrible teams in the league. I don't even want to look at the teams who finished at the bottom last year's schedule, we probably lost to all of them.

If we can consistently beat the teams we're "supposed to" beat and beat the top teams often, HCA (which we're currently in position for) is not out of the question at all. So far, we're on schedule.

Go Blazers!
