Somebody's got to get traded for size, surely?

I'd only trade Ant if we get 1 of 3 results;
1. Contend now - this looks extremely unlikely with the drafting of Scoot
2. Return of equal value in talent at another position
3. Dame commits to stay with the Blazers long term

I'd say it seems more likely we pivot to trade Dame eventually. The Blazers really need to make some decisions ASAP and get clarity on Dame long term. If he will be moved in the months ahead there's no need to move Ant. It also questions how much we should offer Grant and what king of player we should target with the MLE.

I think Dame decides it’s time and he goes to Miami.

I think that they make a small trade. Dame let’s them play it out to see if they can catch fire. Asks for in season trade if/when they don’t

I think we may sign a free agent to add a bit of veteran size, but... I have no idea.

I think Ant but I also put Nurk cause I think this team needs a more defensive minded center ala Joel Pryz etc type if the Blazers really want to try another 2 small guard lineup.

When / IF Ant is traded I think it could be a 3 team deal and Nurk I think he could be headed to the Cavs OR Hawks --- Nurk and pieces ( Little , Keon Knox etc ) for Allen OR Capela

Ant and Nurkic for Collins and Capella? Not going to happen, but would help balance the team a bit. Would like to get someone better if we are shopping out Ant, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I think they tried to trade Anf,, using the 23rd pick to try to make a better package. It appears that most clubs give him the same low value that I do. No one bit so I think he might stay. Now they need to keep him in case Lillard asks out. Not sure how to boost Anf's value, for some reason he just can't play defense.

Seems like a dumb idea for us to unlock those picks as it's possible we never give Chicago anything if this rebuild takes a few extra years.
Not necessarily . They need to pay Chicago off now. Whether they use a pick this summer or at the deadline, they need to get reconciliation on that pick.

As long as Dame is not asking it, Ant seems the obvious answer. There just isn't minutes for all 4 guards and I do NOT want to see Sharpe losing his big athletic advantage at SG to be moved up to SF. He is 6'5". For the love of all that is holy, let players play their best positions.

Plus I've heard on National Sports Talk Radio, the next two Drafts are looking meek. Last year's Draft was great, and this one has potential as well.

No need to rush this unless you actually have something ready to be accepted. This is likely a decision that depends on Dame's decision -- if Dame wants out, that pick instantly becomes a likely lotto pick and resets our timeline. If he wants out we're rebuilding and will very likely end up giving Chicago a lot less for it overall PLUS not really need the ability to trade future 1s.

Definitely think we need to keep in close contact w/ Chicago on it -- which it sounds like we have -- but making a snap decision on it "just in case" would be unwise. Regardless of what future drafts are or aren't looking like.

Who says no:
  • Ant for John Collins
  • Ant & Nurk for DeAndre Ayton
  • Ant & Nurk for KAT
  • Ant for S&T Harrison Barnes?
  • Ant for OG
Struggling to find a lot that gets me excited...

Collins and/or OG at leasts gets you some semblance of balance.

I love the idea of KAT but think this team is too cheap to pursue him.

Any idea that has Ayton in it is silly and stupid -- Ayton got paid now he has turned into a unmotivated bum so he is such a non-starter -- however IF Grant is not retained then I could see it happen. I am not saying I would like it but my guess is the front office would be like let's just get talent in and PREY it works.

Yeah, trying to work backwards... Even with trading Ant, we're clearly well-stocked in the back court and Grant + Sharpe + Murray + Tise + Rupert should account for quite a few wing minutes, so its looking like either a big upgrade at 3 or 4 or just consolidating to upgrade Nurk. KAT's deal is similar to Zion's -- risky but with relative youth and enough years on the deal to play out -- could end up being a value...

I understand that people want things simple, but the world isn't black and white. You -- and others -- seem to want to view everything in absolutes and that's just not reflective of reality. Ayton hasn't been consistent, agreed there. Yes, he's currently overpaid. But that doesn't mean that he'll always be that way (to say nothing of what Nurk is and isn't...) People and situations change and evolve.

At absolute minimum, the current version of Ayton is probably an equal contributor to Nurk, much younger (and young enough to turn his career around) and a much better fit for Chauncey's system.

I don't think it is because they are too cheap. They have tried to trade for other players with high contracts.
The issue is that 55 million for a center is not smart.
