10-12 while every other team fighting for playoffs is at least 4-5 games over 500. in the west.

thats a bad record for playoffs considering we played sac 3 times and twolves twice

Very calm post Mixum. I'm impressed.

Portland is a decent team, but nothing more than that at this point.

We have played a really tough schedule so far. We have played Utah and the Lakers on the road twice each, with only home games remaining against both. While we have finished our season series with Sac we haven't faced either OKC or Memphis yet. Another way to look at it is that we have 30 conference games remaining, 15 of those games are against teams that are already out of playoff contention. As a comparison Denver only has 27 conference games left and 11 of them are against the bottom feeders. I expect our conference record will be much improved for the rest of the season.

Ya, glass half full sort of deal?

We are 10-12, but we've played the Lakers,Hornets,Spurs,Mavericks, Rockets,Jazz, Suns and Nuggets a combined 15 times already.

Sure looks like we have plenty of games left with the lower tier of the Western Conference coming up.

Not too mention we've played incredibly against the East so far. Seems like we're well on our way to 50+ wins and the playoffs when you look at that 10-12 a little more closely.

will 50 wins get us in the playoffs?

I think about that, yeah. Injuries can play a big part of that, and one of the 2-9 teams can fall off the map for a while and get behind and finish with like 45 wins or something.

But I think somewhere in the low 50s will get ya in the playoffs.

Will 50 wins get you to shut up?

:biglaugh:

if we make the playoffs i wont complain until next season

i'm sorry and some will disagree but if this team gets to 50 wins than it is a success. we would improve by 9 games and would at least be in the chase all season long. if 50 doesn't get you into the playoffs, so be it but we'd see improvement and would still be going in the right direction. i'd take 50 wins and just missing the playoffs rather than being in the east where .500 gets you in but you have no hope of going anywhere and are stuck in purgatory.

Hawks were sub .500 last year and got the 8th seed and they ended up taking the Celtics to a 7th game and have a pretty good record this year whereas last year's 9th seed out West is now in shambles. Which team is in purgatory?

so you, of all people (mr. everything is positive, travis is the greatest ever) wouldn't be happy if this team bettered itself by 9 games but missed out on the playoffs because 8 other teams won 51 or more?

to me, 50 wins means we are getting better as a team and better as individual players. remember it's a process, it rarely happens overnight.

btw, Philly went 40-42 (7th seed) and this season sit at 15-20. Toronto went 41-41 (6th) sit at 15-21. Washington 43-39 (5th) today 7-27. want more or did you just want to play the exception to every rule card?

I was just playing the "exception to every rule" card. You put it very well there. That's exactly what I was doing. And I never said I'd be unhappy with the Blazers winning 50 games but I would be unhappy with us not making the playoffs. Wouldn't you? 50 and no playoffs is better than 41 and no playoffs, but isn't that obvious?

And I never said "Travis is the greatest." I just have to defend him here. He's one of our own and people like to slam him to death even though he's a great outside threat, a guy who can get his own shot, and a proven clutch player. I will always defend that because it is true.

...and doesn't realize what a bad shot is, doesn't understand the concept of keeping his man in front of him on defense, refuses to pass out of a double or triple team and is the biggest black hole I've seen offensively this team has seen since Z-Bo.

We simply need to make the playoffs for this season to really matter. This team needs to get some playoff experience under its belt and the fan base as a whole has been waiting way too long to get back to the postseason. It's not an arbitrary yardstick that Blazer management is throwing out there either. They understand the stakes are pretty high this year after going .500 and asking the fans to wait for Oden an entire season. Expectations are pretty high and if we are not one of the top 8 teams in the West, this season is a bit of a waste.
