Sometimes Yi is a scrub, sometimes not ... so inconsistent

Was following him last year for the Bucks. He starts the season out strong, you think he has potential, and then he plays like a scrub for the rest of the year.

This year, he has the 24 point game in Miami, and then he has a series of games where he is playing like a scrub again since the Miami game.

And when I'm about to give up on him, he has his best game putting in 27 points.

He needs to work on his inside game. When he rounds out his inside game and scores more points fromt he paint, I think his consistency will come. Unfortunately, he is relying too much on his jumper and his 3 pt game to get him going.

I also think it's mental with him. It's like sometimes he doesn't focus, and then he can focus on nights like tonight.

Also as a shooter, you're bound to be inconsistent. Like YiOF said, one day you can have all your shots going in and the next day you're ice cold. There are some consistent shooters, but Yi hasn't been one of them.

Don't be so sure about his age. For all we know he could be a 33 year old with two wives and eighteen kids. :O

Yi should never shoot off the dribble. Did you ever notice that when he gets a open look he's likely to knock it down but then when someone runs at him and he puts the ball on the floor and pulls up for a shot it's ALWAYS a brick. He should just stick to shooting the open J's and passing if he's covered.

The Nets need to have more players who share the ball and insert more of the younger players so they can develop together. VC is having a monster year and it is time to trade him.

As I've posted in other threads - the Nets need to propose the following three way trade:

Nets get R. Brewer, J. Collins and Matt Harpring and Steph (for buyout)

Jazz get N. Robinson, D. Lee, Sean William and T. Hassel

Knicks get VC and B. Simmons

Knicks get star and still has cap space in 2010

Jazz get some good players, cap flexibility and Boozer Insurance

Nets get better cap space and a great young player in Brewer who is currently 80% of VC at 10% of the price

Younger players will be inconsistent, because of the defenses they face night in and night out. Yi's getting a lot of his points from the perimeter, when he can consistently post up points when the jumper isn't falling, only then will he be getting 15+ nightly.

His passport says he is 21. NO ONE has proven he is older. It is speculation and really doesnt matter. Rod Thorn quoted team physicians that he is among the "finest physical specimens" they have ever seen. He has sustained no major injuries in his career (unlike Nenad Krstic, who was injury prone in Serbia and the NBA).

He has played a grand total of 78 games in the NBA...with two different teams. He has not missed a game this season.

Last season, he made six three pointers in 66 games. He has made 16 in 12 games so far this year. That works out to be about 110 for a full season. That's more than KVH made in his best season.

He is the Nets' third leading scorer (10.9), second leading three point shooter (50.0%) and second leading rebounder (6.8). Compare that to the guy who he replaced from last year's starting lineup...Sean Williams.

He scored 27 points last night, the second highest game of his career. He scored on deep three's, mid range shots, a nice turn around jumper in the lane, and as I recall, a tap in. He had a monster block underneath and recovered the ball.

The Nets are 6-6...which NO ONE thought was possible a month ago. NO ONE.
