Used to be of the same mindset. But maybe these past two weeks have soured me. When you get blown out at home by teams like Orlando and fail to show up in games (and Dame is one of the biggest culprits to our defensive troubles), I don't think you should get rewarded with an all star spot.
I can understand that view, but Dame is busting his ass out there 10X more than Klay. Nobody is even guarding that guy.

They're not getting blown out because of Dame Lillard (copying Stein with that formulation--"Dame Lillard" sounds like an old woman) though. They're getting blown out because of the other, non-McCollum guys. Of course, Lillard's defense doesn't help, which is why he's not a slam dunk choice, but I don't think Lillard should be punished for his teammates being poor.

Do you think that if you swapped Klay Thompson and Dame Lillard, the Warriors would have a terrible record?

My prediction:

1. Not Lillard
2. Not Lillard
3. Not Lillard
4. Not Lillard
5. Not Lillard

No they wouldnt have a terrible record but then again they would have 3 top 15 players in the NBA instead of 4 so maybe the defensive rating takes a dive but thats not a fair comparison. Real life comparison would be if we traded dame for klay would WE be better... And I think so yes.

I wasn't comparing Lillard and Thompson directly, I was pointing out that teammates matter. Lillard isn't driving the Blazers' poor record, the bad players on the Blazers are.

Marc stein can eat a dick. I think Dame deserves the spot. Was snubbed hard last year. If he doesn't get it, whatever but man if Conley makes it over dame expect a 50 game from dame like last year against GS. Yeah we have a bad record but conley? really? no way
Conley is quietly having a better year (especially when you factor in his defense).

Why don't they just have the Cavs and Warriors wear East and West All Star jerseys and play each other in the All Star game

You are seriously calling Klay a better player than Dame? Wow dude.

Not really... We're not in the playoffs right now.
The having to have a good team to get into the AS game stop being a prerequisite about 7 years ago.

Jordan made All-Star games even when the Bulls sucked. Lillard is like a smaller Jordan minus the defense and insane scoring efficiency.

Guards:
Westbrook
McCollum

Forwards:
Hayward
Cousins
Gasol

Wild Cards:
Gobert
Towns

Im saying we would be better if we had an elite 2 way player in our back court rather than two undersized players who cant play defense. What you want to interpret after that is your own business but I stand by what I said.

He is not. Check the numbers

Klay is overrated. A ton. Especially on defense. Not saying he can't defend but come on now. I forget the number but Klay gets most of his points by people setting him up, spotting up. Its an absurd number actually. CJ should be in instead of Klay and Dame should also make it. Wont happen but whatever, the all star game is bullshit

No he's not (especially when you factor in his PER, scoring, and rebounding).
http://www.basketball-reference.com...lect=Mike+Conley&y2=2017&player_id2=conlemi01

PER is exactly 1.4 points apart. Conley is a superior 3 point shooter, has a higher assist rate, has double the steal-rate of Damian and a nearly identical true shooting percentage. Sure Damian scores more, but he's also significantly worse on defense. As for which player has a bigger impact on their team, they're probably both about equal, but Conley will get the coaches vote because his team is playing well and Conley is a plus defender.

This isn't about Damian being "bad," but it is about coaches voting on who has done more to help their team win.

Dame has a rap cd and a dozen commercials worldwide...line of shoes....this gives him an edge over Conley....it's the allstar game, not the all nba team which is something great to win

I listen to non Blazer broadcasts and the guy they gush over every game is Dame....occasionally a CJ nod but Dame is the star of the show here

Lamarcus Aldridge has no business being an allstar by his own production this season...he's been ....meh a whole lot.

I don't know what you're saying. I said that Lillard isn't driving the Blazers' poor record--you disagreed with me. So you think Lillard IS at fault for the bad record?

Okay.

How do you know Conley will get the coaches vote? Dame was second team All NBA last year. And Dame AND CJ were picked ahead of Conley in the players vote this year. Also, Conley has missed a bunch of games this year.

So the Spurs have the 2nd best record in the league with only one All Star?

And the Grizzlies aren't exactly lighting the league up. They are 4-6 in last 10. Same as Blazers. Gasol should be an All Star and I don't think Grizzlies deserve 2 All Stars.

Aldridge is averaging 18/7 on 52/50/82 shooting. Mills is averaging 10 ppg.

I don't. I'm giving my opinion on a message board about how I think it will go, based on the history of these things.

You didn't give your opinion. You stated it as s fact that it "will" happen. Saying how you "think" it will happen is different.
