Chemistry goes a long way when you think of role players. Yes, if Asik was a game changing All star, then trading Rolo would be fine. But Asik is just a defensive role player. Not a game changer.

If we drop a spot, 2, 3 or 4 and raise up at least 5 spots or so in defense, I'd say that's a win.

Obviously this is based on keeping RoLo + Asik, but I have no clue what else we have to offer.

Maybe Houston sees Meyers as a 4? Claver? Beats me.

I am always for production validating minutes or starts. If Asik comes in like a Boss, I think even Rolo would welcome coming off the bench. I don't see it that way though and Asik would be given a ton of minutes regardless, being the #1 big coming off the bench.

Good for Olshey if he's at least exploring his options. I don't see much of a path to a trade here, but who knows.

And yes, chemistry might be an issue, but if it's so fragile that it can't tolerate any sort of roster movement, then just how real is that chemistry to begin with? The real question is how much better does adding Asik make the Blazers and what is lost getting him? If Olshey can evaluate that counter-factual and thinks he comes out ahead then more power to him.
