Wow that might be good enough to get dwil to stay. Wow a game changer if Howard gives his blessing.

wait a minute, i thought dwight was only going to LA! WTF?

maybe cp3 to la had nothing to do with howard?.............

Lol. What's really funny is you posted your reply and this came up. I was like wtf?! Hahahaha

the magic could do worse than brook lopez and dumping hedo, but could prolly do better too

What could NJ offer besides DWILL (Not included IMO) and a 3 million contract for Brook Lopez?

And another FYI. New jersey would have enough cap space to get Howard if the magic choose not to do the trade. Basically it is all howards choice. He can just as easily go there no matter what.

I think lopez and picks makes sense for howard and hedo. NJ gets the better end of the deal and it makes deron happy. will the league block this one too?

No they would not block the nets. The lakers are like SC, it's not what they do, it's how arrogant they are when they do it that gets them trouble. (kidding)

Well it does give Orlando to free up a ton of cap. Basically the ability to amnesty arenas, lose Turks bloated contract and have a tangible center and two first rounders.

As a laker hater, I endorse this!

This news comes out hours after the Paul deal is nixed.

Was Howard considering giving his blessing on a deal to the Lakers if they first got CP3? Perhaps when that fell apart he decided he wanted to be on the Nets.

I remember when the Lakers first lost in the playoffs and Howard to LA rumors started, there were reports Howard wanted to eventually end up in a situation with another young superstar. He had concerns that Kobe was in his last few elite years and thus wasn't as interested in going to the Lakers as other big market teams.

And this is why we love nba more than survivor! This is a much better reality tv!

what the...why would you say something like that

not at all. But I don't think what happened was fair to anyone involved. The Hornets are the real losers here. That trade made LA worse this year.

The NBA is a business. Fair has nothing to do with it.

correct. and the trade should have went through. all three parties agreed. the breakdown is the 29 owners dont have the hornets interests as a priority. they only care about their teams

All three parties did not agree. One of the parties is the NBA, which is collectively owned and run by 30 owners. Obviously a majority of those owners did not feel that this move was in the best interest of the league, or they would not have vetoed it.

I think that deal may have made LA worse. Their front court length has been so difficult to matchup with the last 4 years and they would've lost that advantage. However Paul was the best player in the deal so usually if you end up with the best player you don't lose out in a trade.

But.... the giant elephant in the room is what if the Paul deal was only half of their moves... if they had a deal setup to land Howard or another elite big man then they would've formed a superteam possibly better then the Heat. So yes the Paul deal may have been a slight immediate downgrade on its own, but it put them in a spot to be one move from forming the biggest superteam in sports.

If Chandler signs in NY and uses their cap space, CP3 could end up without any great free agent options. Its not necessarily guaranteed that he bolts NO. NO could add a free agent or two, I could see him staying put and pocketing the extra $25 million they can offer over anyone else. In that scenario the Hornets may have been benefited greatly from their owners nixing this deal.

The league is the key phrase there. It made A LOT of sense for the hornets. which is the team making the trade. gilbert is butthurt because he lost lebron and now he would lose some of his lux tax money. I'm not surprised he is the most vocal.

The breackdown was the one owner who owns the Hornets and nixed the deal. This routinely happens with almost finalized trades in the NBA.

the hornets have had 7 years to convince cp3 NO is his home. He doesnt want to stay because they suck.

my bad- 6 years.

Wait a minute. They have made the playoffs 5 of those 6 years. They had a stacked team with chandler, west and Paul. And they did take lakers to 6 games, who were the defending champs. I would hardly say they sucked.

Welcome to the new NBA guys! YAYYYYYY

You guys are right - in light of league's decision on CP trade, it could kill D12 to NJ before it starts, at least that seems plausible

that's chris broussard folks. not stephen a smith. broussard is legit.

stacked? more like overachievers. chandler is good, i'll give you that. but his offense consists of alley-oops.

I think he wants to leave NO for LA or NY because they are bigger cities, not because they've had better rosters recently. Pauls preferred destination of all is supposedly the Knicks and they have sucked much more then the Hornets the last 6 years!

That's the advantage bigger markets have.

Smaller markets don't have that luxury, unless if you have a guy that only cares about playing ball. Such as Aldridge. He just wants to play ball, doesn't care about the big city lights.
