The New Jersey Nets are in serious talks with the Magic about a deal that will send Vince Carter to Orlando for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee, two league sources told ESPN.com.

The talks have reached a point that a deal could be done by the end of the day Thursday, according to sources.

Isn't Rafer a free agent? I'm not sure how that deal would work. If the Magic did this trade I don't think they could afford to re-sign Hedo either.

I remember when Cater and Jefferson were hot commodaties for NJ and they were turning down trade left and right for those two.

In the end, if this trade goes down, NJ did not get much for those 2.

Sounds more and more like this is going to get done, all my friends who are Nets fans are going crazy right now hoping this deal doesn't go down. Even though Lee would be another nice piece to the puzzle for the Nets as they continue to get younger, this team will go nowhere during the season and could definitely see them looking at a top 5 pick in next summers draft. They just better hope they dont strike out next summer in Free Agency or else all these moves were for nothing.

Actually Yahoo saying the deal is done:

The New Jersey Nets have agreed in principal to send Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson to the Orlando Magic for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee, two league executives told Yahoo! Sports.

The Nets will draft Louisville shooting guard Terrence Willams at No. 11, if he’s still available.
