Speaker John A. Boehner will resign from Congress and give up his House seat at the end of October

If the Republicans wanted to quit lying at any time they could. They know damn well that to get an abortion through Planned Parenthood one must pay their own money. There isn't a single tax dollar that is going toward abortion and it is only 1% of what they do. I used to go to Planned Parenthood to get 13 condoms for $1. Planned Parenthood is part of the reason why I had my first child at 30. This whole baby part scandal is bullshit invented by idiots who want to lie about Planned Parenthood to take away the funding that helps poor people. The Republicans know this yet they want to continue to lie about what Planned Parenthood does. Obama was right to veto that bullshit bill. Planned Parenthood funding wasn't the only Christmas tree ornament in that bullshit either.

So wasting our money doing vote after vote to repeal Obamacare which will never be repealed is being the Democrats puppet? Bohner was part of the problem.
No... Wasting money on a 5 billion dollar and counting out of country web base system is atrocious.

But let's get back to topic here. He is a yes man RINO

Please elaborate on the many Obama proposals that Bohner passed in the House.

I'll wait...

When congress does nothing after their vote of nay, that allows it to pass. Power of the purse. Doing nothing passes executive orders.

So you want to argue a strawman point but don't want to answer the question about the many Obama proposals that boner passed? You still have yet to explain how he's a puppet. Just because you say it doesn't make it true. And as a matter of fact if you say it I'm certainly going to scrutinize it more. I'm still waiting to hear about the many proposals that Democrats want that were never passed. That's the exact topic when you call him a puppet and cannot prove that he is. Links or it didn't happen...

You and I need to get together on October 1st. Because I know you're going to have the good shit!

Boehner presided over the biggest do nothing Congress in modern history..they started campaigning against the president the moment he took office and never stopped trying everything in their power to see the opposition party fail for the next election..I'm sick of it. I'm not a democrat but I've definitely become an anti republican with what I consider to be good reason. Once in office...they don't work for me.

What is straw man of 5 billion spent on a website that still doesn't work? Do you think that's using our money wisely?

No one is DC is working for you

How does a website that still doesn't work sign up over 5 million people? I'll keep waiting mags...

18.18 Trillion in debt, 526 billion in annual interest per year on that Debt, 17.4 trillion GDP (Gross Domestic Product), 104% debt to GDP and $56k of debt per citizen of the United States.

What does that mean? Each and every one of us technically owe $56,754 to the banks and countries that loaned America Money. That our government is spending 104% of the money that we can realistically pay back. That if we don't put a stop to this right now, we can be a bankrupt nation just like Greece.

Frankly, I blame everyone in Congress and in the White House. They failed America

Wow!!!! That's awesome! 5 million out of 300+ million people... Efficient!!!

There were 47 million people that did not have insurance. Where are you getting the 300 million number from? It's hard to debate someone who is completely and Gish gallop mode. The website didn't cost 5 billion either. That's just another strawman. I truly question where you get your information from. For someone who was voted Democrat in the past you have completely swallowed the tea.

As of mid-January, more than 7.1 million people signed up for 2015 coverage in the 37 states using the federal exchange, healthcare.gov, while 2.4 million did so in the 13 states and Washington, D.C., which run their own exchanges. So this is what we get instead of the list of many Obama bills that Boehner passed? Why make crap assertions that you can't substantiate?

This sums it up. Great post.

The fact that you're blaming government shutdown on Obama really says all we need to know.
C'mon, man, just think for a second instead of just spouting out garbage like above...did the President say or not that he'd veto any budget that came with Planned Parenthood cut? I'll help you out (even from the GOP-crusading HuffPost!)...

President Barack Obama "strongly opposes" and would veto a pair of House bills that would strip federal funds from Planned Parenthood and impose new restrictions on abortion, the White House said in a statement on Thursday...But a group of GOP congressmen is hoping to tie the defunding bill to the must-pass federal budget legislation, effectively threatening a government shutdown over the issue.

Amazing that people who want to de-fund a budget item put it in a budget bill. And I get that the President wants to stick to his guns--that's his prerogative. But the cognitive dissonance is strong if you don't think that it's completely on him. The people (and their representatives) want there to be sanctions against the PP atrocities. Some states have already repurposed dollars that would have gone to PP to other care centers. And yet the President won't do that. He stands by PP against (seemingly) what the House and Senate want to pass, and is willing to shut down the government while doing so.

Personally, I think that someone from a demographic that votes 90% (D) may want to check their own bias at the door before jumping in with ad hominem attacks. Talk about the issue, not your dislike of someone posting an opinion different than yours.

The Republicans have been trying to strip Planned Parenthood funding for years. Planned Parenthood is an excellent program that helps inner city people like myself. After my high school years I wasn't making much money. Planned Parenthood was very necessary for me to obtain very low cost birth control. Because of this my son was born when I was 30. I got the chance to plan when I became a parent. Stripping federal funding from Planned Parenthood is going to result in more intercity youth and poor people having more unwanted pregnancies. These babies will have to be paid for. Now, the reason why The Lying Republicans want to restrict funding to Planned Parenthood is based upon a goddamn lie. Plain and simple. They know this Brian... They know they are lying... Obama knows they are lying... So when you say that you will not fund the rest of the government based upon something you know is a lie, it is you not funding the government. Not the president that is vetoing the bill that strips funding for poor people. He like I is simply tired of Republicans hammering on the poor. I applaud him for vetoing this bill. Had federal funding not been there for Planned Parenthood who knows if I would have been able to plan when I was a parent. Republicans are simply throwing red meat to their base.

We have 300+ million people in America. If everyone is paying their fair share on tax, all should be equally beneficial to the citizens. Uninsured is not all Americans.

Tweeeet! Foul!

There's a whole lot of BS in this post, dviss1. First, Planned Parenthood's own numbers say that 3% of the procedures they do each year are abortions. That number, however, is deliberately misleading because patients typically receive more than one service. The fact checkers at the Washington Post said, "If the 327,653 abortion procedures were given to individual patients, patients who received abortions would account for 12 percent of total patients." link

As far as paying their own money goes, there's a lot of wiggle room in that discussion too. Federal dollars are specifically banned from paying for abortions, but one route that skirts that issue is a practice commonly referred to as “fragmentation.” One case in Iowa found that charges for services and products rendered in connection with abortions (office visits, ultrasounds, Rh factor tests, lab work, general counseling, and abortion aftercare) were submitted as separate “fragmented” charges as claims for Title XIX-Medicaid reimbursement..[link] Also, if federal funds help pay for the facility, equipment, and staff that perform the abortions, it's pretty hard to say with a straight face that federal money isn't supporting abortions.

As for the "baby part business" goes, the videos certainly would indicate that there should be some investigation of Planned Parenthood to determine if federal laws have been violated. Sure, the people doing the videos had an agenda and the videos themselves are "highly edited" (favorite Democratic mantra on this subject), but the full videos are there for anyone who cares to wade through them. The charges are likely overblown and limited to only a few individuals, but taxpayers have a right to know if there is corruption there that needs to be cleaned up. The "hear no evil, see no evil" approach of the Democrats on this subject is baloney.

I'm not in favor of pulling the plug on Planned Parenthood unless they refuse to be more open about what they're doing and how they do it. That doesn't seem to me to be too much to ask in return for half a billion dollars.

If an organization is doing something illegal, they damn well should be stripped of funding. There are plenty of other groups that can help those in need.

Furthermore, the investigation recommends that PP stop abortions until investigation is finished. It doesn't stop other groups that haven't broke the law to still give free abortions.

Um, they started campaigning against repealing what he had done because THEY WERE VOTED INTO OFFICE TO DO SO. Do you think it's a magical coincidence that, following 2 years of President Obama, a Pelosi-led House and a Reid-led Senate (filibuster-proof majority!), 64 of those House D's lost their seats, and about 40 went to Tea Party/Freedom Caucus types? And they've added 5 seats since to that? And that the Senate D's have lost 16 seats since 2010?

I'm someone who wants smaller government, less military intervention in nation-building, diplomacy from strength, people to follow the laws (including but not limited to immigration), the majority of Pell Grants and other Federal Grants to go to student in STEM programs, Social Security to pay for Social Security (whether that means increase the tax % or increase retirement age is a debate we can have), Medicare/Caid to pay for Medicare/Caid (same caveats), comprehensive health care reform (not just lining insurance company pockets), intelligent alternative energy sources, and for religion to be out of government control. Many of those voted in over the last 5 years believe many/most of those things, and the President doesn't. I, as one voter, don't want to see the President accomplish almost anything on his agenda, and want a repeal of some of the stuff he and those already voted out have already accomplished. And many of the constituents of people voted in agree.

I get that that doesn't play well in Oregon.

Have you ever gotten an abortion from Planned Parenthood? I may have been wrong about the 1% number. But when it comes to paying for it the people getting that have to pay. There are no such thing as free abortions.

Regardless, PP broke the law if they even sold 1 aborted baby part for profit. Do you support selling baby parts for profit?

The fact that the Tea Party took over the house has nothing to do with what the people wanted. Republican governors have gerrymandered the districts and you know this. Look up the Concord project and you will see exactly how the Tea Party took over the house. They were well funded. It was not a grassroots movement. They were well funded by smart people who made sure that they became precinct committee men. Those are the people who vote to choose who's going to be on the ballot. It was not the people speaking, it was a well-funded intelligent plan.
