Speaker John A. Boehner will resign from Congress and give up his House seat at the end of October

So let's hear what you have to say about killing children and keeping murderers, war criminals and violent rapists alive.

I can pull up a bunch of links about the military killing children if you like? Your call.

Does torture make you a war criminal? I too am in favor of putting your former bosses on death row, good call there.

As far as death row...food for thought.

Please don't tag or alert me to this thread anymore. It's gone far away from debating about the orange man. The first person of color to ever be Speaker of the House.

Why, dviss, do you want to keep murders, war criminals and rapists alive but kill children?

I just have to say something about this. My cousin did two tours in Iraq. When he came back from his first tour he said something to me that astounds me to this day. Before he left to war he was so full of life. Very bright. Very loving. When he came back he said that you have to be prepared to kill a child. Because you don't know who could be running up to your convoy and why they would be. Another good friend of mine who had gone to Iraq has nightmares now because the order was for the convoy to go to its destination and not to stop. He was driving one of the Humvees that ran over and killed an Iraqi child. Since the order was to drive to the destination and not stop, he was not allowed help the child he had just ran over. Don't fucking talk to me about abortion when shit like this happens every fucking day!

Does it help? Pretending I'm a caricature instead of a pretty smart dude with some pretty sound logic behind his convictions that may be worth listening to?

No offense meant man, its literally a meme I see all the time on my fb wall. I know you are smart, and enjoy the back and forth. But you are wrong about pretty much everything!

Sigh. Joseph Rainey was the first black speaker of the House, and a Republican. /school

Silly post. I know who Joseph Rainey was! I'm black mother fucker! I said person of color. Black people are not people of color. We are black. John Boehner was fucking orange. Person of color is a term invented by white people.

Now again, please don't tag me or hurt me anymore. I'm done with this thread.

I'm happy to have you pull up links about the military killing children. I'd be careful about not looking at what happens when our military doesn't go into places and protect children--there are a lot more of those links.
I'm in favor of holding leaders accountable for their actions, of course. I am held to standards every day. I don't get away with saying "I'm a politician."

I'd rather the President didn't "stand with PP" and pass a budget that both parts of Congress agree on and move on our way. But he doesn't want to. So....

The part I'm missing here (legitimately--not a dig on anyone) is why you are ok with the government shutting down over PP? Especially since (if?) that 500M is just redirected to other health care providers? I know for a fact that PP are not the only clinics in poor or urban areas. What exactly does PP do that someone else doesn't or can't?
i don't think that your arguement stands up considering that the latest polling data from fox news shows that 52% of americans are in favor of planned parenthood funding and only 42% favor defunding
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...views-divided-over-issues-involving-abortion/
i would rather have the president represent the majority as opposed to the will of the angry minority

I will talk all I want to, because while I am not out trying to get people the ability to fuck for a dollar, I am the one who has to make that call every day. Every. Day. And while you don't understand it, and your cousin may not understand it, people have to be there making the hard decisions that your government sent us to make and the shitty job your government sent us to do. And to try to keep people like your cousin and your friend alive while doing it. And to be told that while we're doing it, we may not be getting paid because you and Obama stand with PP. For someone to start lashing out because they lost a debate about planned parenthood of things...c'mon, man.

Enjoy your day. In the morning I have to go make sure Afghan kids don't blow up any of my guys.

First and foremost..what you guys do is appreciated by me, my war wasn't a popular one either..we didn't get parades coming home but reading your post here two things stand out ...you say his govt, his president...isn't it our govt? 2nd....are you not getting paid and is PP to blame? This confuses me. We have disagreements about certain issues but that does not mean what you do is not appreciated

I say the collective "your" government because I don't get to advocate for things in uniform, especially not where I'm sent. I didn't mean that you particularly voted for Bush or Obama or Boehner or whoever, but it's the people's vote. And frankly, because 2012 was the only chance I've had since 2000 to vote for President. When deployed people aren't very good about making sure you get absentee ballots.
As for the pay issues, if the government is shut down, there is speculation that under the sequester that funds may not be paid to the military (that exception was made in 2011, but has not been talked about in this instance that I've seen). It may be fine, but it may be that while I'm in Afghanistan next week I won't get a paycheck because someone decides that PP is more important than the government. Blame R's, Blame Obama, whatever....the fact seems to my eyes to be that the COngress has (or will have) a budget that's approved except that PP is defunded, and that will likely cause me and a lot of others not to get paid. I'm lucky that I can handle not being paid for a few weeks, but not a lot of my guys making 25k/yr (tax-free, though!) can.

If the government is shut down, that is an executive decision. Just because Obama blames the Congress for not funding all his wishes, it still is an executive decision, his decision.
I wish the Republicans would pick a more significant issue to put Obama to the test on, but any that make him show himself to be the ass he is, is welcome. I hope it does not hurt you guys too badly though, but take heart in the fact, Obama has done it by the stroke of a pen, vetoing the will of the majority's representatives in Congress. Thanks for the work you do in any case.

That isn't 2.2 trillion per year. I already knew this... You made a claim he would vote for someone that would spend 2.2 trillion a year on military policing. You've failed.

Not sure what you are referring to. I never said per year in my post. Nor did I insinuate that.

Wow... what a huge assumption... so now your rhetoric has turned into me not appreciating the troops... Yeah my other cousin DeSean is in Afghanistan as we speak.

I didn't say you don't appreciate us, you've talked about your cousins and friends enough that I know you care. But in this particular case, it seems by what you're saying that you don't care that DeSean and I may not getting paid next week for being over here and dealing with some really messed-up stuff so long as PP keeps getting its half-billion. If that's a misrepresentation please let me know, but that has been the crux of what I thought we've been talking about all thread. That (IMO) the President is choosing PP over a running government, and your stance that you stand with him and that it's the R's fault. At least, that's what I've been talking toward.

If you think you're not getting paid next week then you have seriously swallowed the Republican kool-aid.

You are absolutely wrong. Once an investigation is opened, congress have every right to freeze the money.

I didn't say they didn't have the right. Certainly they have the right. I said that not everything under investigation is halted, frozen, defunded, what-have-you.

I used to have to lend money to a lot of my military mates before payday even when we did get paychecks. When I was in war there was literally nowhere to spend money anyway not that that's any consolation. If you have wives and kids at home, that's understandable but the single soldier is fed, clothed, sheltered and pretty insulated from financial crisis in times of war.

Wives and kids.

Even with me, I'm not spending anything here, except that all of my household stuff is still going on. I'm just not there. So yeah, grocery bill is cheaper.

Or, I listen to the Deputy Secretary of Defense:
Republicans and Democrats in Congress face an Oct. 1 deadline to reach a budget deal and are trying to negotiate a stopgap measure to stave off a shutdown that would grind to a halt many of the Defense Department's civilian-run operations and raise questions about troops' Oct. 15 paychecks.
"During a government shutdown, all military personnel would continue in a normal duty status; however, they would not be paid until Congress provides funding," Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work wrote in a memo sent to all Defense Department troops and civilian employees Friday morning.
"The uncertainty of the current circumstances puts our workforce in a difficult situation, and should a government shutdown occur, it could impose hardships on many employees as well as the people we serve every day," Work wrote.
In 2013, Congress passed legislation specifically to protect military pay during that year's government shutdown, but that measure has expired.
Believe me now?

Oh okay... I see why you posted that... Maybe I was a bit over zealous on my statement. But since the ones that want them defunded will be doing the investigation, I would suspect they would freeze their funding until further investigation.

I believe one member said they still will fund all other areas, but they just can't abort babies until the investigation ends and they've proven they did no illegal activity

It was a response to my comment that the one you support wants to tax you 2.2 trillion in tax off 3 trillion we spend on free market. That's a "per year" figure off the article you posted.
