Fake news. The media has gotten so many things wrong, I can name three. So this story is wrong too. There's this absurd narrative that somehow a special counsel has been appointed. The weakest connections are made with zero evidence of anything at all. So go waste our time.

Where are the special counsels investigating Hillary and Obama? The system is rigged against honest white men like Mr Trump.
 
Everybody realizes that Trump has the authority to fire Mueller right? No more ICs under the authority of the courts after Kenneth Starr.
 
It speaks volumes that Comey wasn't appointed as special counsel. This proves how crooked he was as FBI director.

CNN is reporting that law was changed. The president unfortunately can not fire Mueller.

LA Times is reporting differently:

There is now credible evidence that President Trump pressed then-FBI Director James B. Comey to end the investigation of Michael Flynn, the administration’s first national security advisor. If true, Trump could be guilty of obstruction of justice. But there is no mechanism in place to ensure a truly independent inquiry of this or other possibly illegal actions by high-level Trump officials.

Congress should therefore renew the independent counsel statute providing for the appointment of a special prosecutor, one who cannot be fired by the president or the attorney general.

On Wednesday, Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod Rosenstein announced he was appointing former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III as special prosecutor to take over the Justice Department investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Without the protection of the independent counsel law, however, Trump can order Rosenstein to fire Mueller, and fire Rosenstein if he refuses.

Mueller is a German name. How do we know that the East Germans aren't trying to hack our investigations?
 
I'm quite good with this. If there are leaks, he can go after them. And someone with integrity will either find nothing or find nothing.
