I don't know who that James woods character is but this is America, not Russia or Turkey, and whatever this country's faults, the president does not have the authority to "lock up" or even indict anyone.

Ah, the Obama horrors. When a "scandal" was the President wearing a tan suit, saluting with a coffee cup in his hand, eating Dijon mustard, eating arugula, not wearing a flag pin, putting his feet up on his desk. Clearly he should be locked up for life.

You don't know this but it props up the liberal conspiracy theory you subscribe to. Trump's organization has been tied to Russian money. He's just lied about his encounter with Comey after firing him....you'll see soon enough how clean Trump's tiny hands are....my truth meter says he's hiding a lot of stuff.....let's start with the money....and actually, the investigation is ongoing..might want to see the endgame before making a claim that there's no evidence....if there were no evidence, I don't think we'd be investigating him but....hey.....we are investigating him...You see..Trump has no friends not only in the country but on the planet....he's painting himself in a corner...

The amusing thing is that, years down the line, when everyone from both parties agrees that Trump was a disaster, Denny will be insisting he never liked, supported or argued for Trump and that he was actually "your guy." That's how it's worked with Bush. During Bush's presidency, he insisted that everyone who was anti-Bush was a "traitor" (because you "support your President in war time") and now pretends he never supported Bush and, really, all of the rest of us were the Bush supporters.

So take Denny's posts as they're intended--not serious, just for humor.

I'm actually leaning more and more to the side, that thinks that Trump actually wasn't looped in by Manafort and Flynn and other surrogates if they were allegedly colluding with the Russians to tamper with the election.

These "ties" to Russian money are common and ordinary and not unique to Trump or his associates. That's not any kind of smoke. Any meeting between anyone and Russians could as likely be about area 51 as any collusion during the campaign.

The real signifiant dealings with the Russians were all done in the public, during Trump's interviews and speeches. That he wants a better relationship between the US and Russia. And that's it.

My only concern about any special counsel proceedings is that Trump and his people do need to be forthcoming with Mueller or else.

If you think about it, previous special counsels haven't indicted (or equivalent) for the "smoke" or actual crimes that they were tasked with investigating. Clinton supporters love to brag about how ineffective the special counsels were at gaining convictions against her. However, several of the Clinton organization/associates did go to jail - Web Hubble, for one. Or Fitzgerald's investigation of the leak of Valerie Plame's name that only came up with an indictment of Scooter Libby for unrelated activity.

All the evidence we know as true or that is believable suggests Flynn broke laws by not revealing his payments from foreign governments. No evidence, whatsoever, he was part of anything to do with alleged hacking by the Russians and/or coordination of the release of the information.

Bill Clinton lied under oath about a personal/private matter that was material to Paula Jones' case (at the time). It got him into serious trouble, cost him the Jones case and his lawyer license. Any one of Trump or his associates should beware to tell the whole truth and not get caught by the same foible.

The media with enormous man power and money has been investigating this for months and found nothing (not counting what they lie about). What we do know is that the loony conspiracies or "evidence" they've put forward has been proven to be untrue.
 
BTW, I'll state the obvious that the media won't.

If Trump wanted the Flynn investigation stopped, he could have simply pardoned him.

Way to misstate things I said in the past.

I suggested that some of the anti-War (not anti-Bush) activities were aiding the enemy. You support the soldiers on the ground who are facing incoming fire in war time.

That of course isn't true at all. It wouldn't stop the investigation, which is much broader than just Flynn.

And, of course, his pardon powers have not expired. I expect we'll see some pardons before he leaves office. Perhaps he'll see if he can pardon himself.

Actually, no. It would have prevented any charges from being brought against Flynn. FBI would still look into what he did, though, because others were presumably involved as was national security.

Trump's "good guy" would not have to testify or produce any evidence, nor would he be able to be pressured, granted immunity, etc.

And secondly, the investigation is going to find nothing that will make you happy.

Doesn't someone have to be convicted of a crime before they can be pardoned? I'm by no means a legal expert, it's an honest question.

I get that, but he specifically said multiple times that they don't exist and fact is...they do. He said he had no dealings with Russian lobbyists and he did..even if funneled through his children or associates or cabinet members...that's the web they are trying to unwind...lies are lies...they don't have excuses..Trump is out of excuses. That coupled with a complete lack of transparency with financial disclosures...it smells like shit...throw dirt on it

Or may have committed.

He wasn't charged with anything at that point. Articles of impeachment were in progress, but not voted on by the House.

I'm excercising my freedom of speech and making my opinion available to all who see the logic, and there are a lot of us, what's happening in DC is pertinent to our lives....to not voice concerns is what is, in fact, illogical....you have bitched as much as anyone about the Obama administration...it's my turn...worst choice for president in American history...book it
