I shake my head at some of your guys' posts. Geesh. Lakers would've gotten higher seed if Dwight wasn't bricking free throws. Addition by substraction. Also, the Lakers have Farmar this year. SI isn't stupid. They're professional sports analysts.

And you agreed that the lakers wouldn't pass us? The only people shaking their heads are the ones trying to understand your logic

It's SPORTS ILLUSTRATED that said this. I'm just explaining THEIR logic.

1. Clippers
2. Thunder
3. Spurs
4. Rockets
5. Warriors
6. Blazers
7. Mavericks
8. T-Wolves
9. Grizzlies
10. Nuggets
11. Lakers
12. Pelicans
13. Kings
14. Jazz
15. Suns

Thunder win over Heat

No mention of Thomas Robinson in our preview. Very positive on Lopez. Not sure why they had us so low.

Fixed it for you/SI.

Lakers at 6.

Media trying to brainwash. They never learn.

Addition by Subtraction are you joking me? Yes lets take the BEST CENTER in the league and have him walk while they get nothing for him and suddenly it makes them a better team because they move a broken down Paul to center. What the hell... I guess if a team has only two quality NBA players that are both broken down then a former Superstar who is coming back from an injury that is usually career ending at his age then i'm definitely going to throw logic out the window and start waving the championship flag for that team.

You put them at 9th

SI put them 9th, and he wasn't concerned about any team in the standings except the Blazers and Lakers.

But you already knew that...

I could realistically see us finishing as high as 4th. Even better than the Warriors. They have pieces, but a bunch of fragile guys.

The teams for sure better than us are OKC, Rockets and Clippers.

OK, so they lost the best rebounder and one of the best interior defenders in the league and got NOTHING in return, and you call that addition by subtraction? You do realize that, in spite of his poor FT shooting, the Lakers were better with Howard on the court than with him on the bench last season, don't you? If you haven't already done so, go to 82games.com and check out his net production and on court/off court stats. His net production is +6.4. This means he out produces the opposing teams' centers. His net on court/off court is +4.1. That means the team is better with him on the court than off.

And, are you seriously siting adding Jordan Farmar as a positive? Farmar is a back-up PG who gets consistently out played by other back-up PGs. He didn't even play in the NBA last season and hasn't had a positive net production in six years. Yeah, he's their savior. They'll never miss Dwight now that they have Farmar.

They lost the best center in the game, Pau is 33 and missed 33 games last season. Nash is 39 and missed 32 games last season. Kobe is 35 and coming of a severe injury and several weeks away from being ready to play. Steve Blake is 33 and missed 37 games last season. The only two healthy veterans they had, Metta World Peace (missed 7 games) and Antawn Jamison (missed 6 games) are both gone.

Last season, they were the 7th seed and the team that was the 8th seed (with an identical 45-37 record) just added Dwight Howard and gave up nothing to get him. And, you really think the Lakers are going to move UP in the standings? Even a fountain of youth could not save that roster. They need an epidemic of Benjamin Button disease.

And yet, I think we could finish better than one or two of those.

Exactly. I don't care if the Grizz finish first or last or anywhere in between. My post wasn't about that.

Seems to me the Lakers are going into full tank mode without anybody really noticing it. Farmar played in the Turkish Basketball League last year, for fucks sake. (I looked it up--he torched the league for 13ppg and 4 assists. Yowza.)

They are keeping it on the downlow by trotting out Nash and Pau to sell tickets, but I suspect both won't make it through November without "surprise" injuries that keep them benched (or at least limited minutes).

Lakers at #6? Whoever created that list should be kicked in the ass. Trying to appease the LA audience? They sucked last year and only got in thanks the refs sucking their dicks in down the stretch. And they lost Dwight Howard. I think the Mavs will slip too.
