I'd just like someone to point out when this has happened before. As far as i can check (googling "Spurs rest starters" for 2006, 2007, and 2008) I can't find a single article about them resting starters a whole game. There're a bunch of articles about "giving them the fourth quarter off", or no-practice days on the rodeo trip, but I can't find one that talks about a team resting 3 all-star caliber starters for a real game outside of a week or two from the playoffs starting.
I agree and that gets to the heart of the matter. In the final days, yes. And resting Shaq on the second day of back to backs makes sense, he is getting older, he's had injuries, moreoever, it has been announced the Suns will do this. But for no apparent reason (a hip contusion? let's get real, everyone in the NBA has contusions) they rest 3 players in a game? I am not saying there is some conspiracy to "get" Portland, but this is downright weird. And it is not surprising that fans, especially Spurs fans, would want to know what the hell is going on.
