Paul "run n' gun" Westphal for coach says he'll play smallball, a large assortment of deadly shooters on the wings, and now Udrih is injured.

Bayless must be jealous. :devilwink:

I got a chuckle out of this one.

This is not "OT."

Sergio blossoming in Sacto will instill doubt in Nate among more fans.

And then Sergio will return and triumphantly lead the Blazers to a series of 7 Titles.

Or, Sergio continuing to suck will instill doubt in other fans about their opinions about him and of Nate.

Personally, I think Sergio has some talent and he may well fit in better with a faster paced offense. Not sure how that will help his mediocre defense, however. I wish him well every night except when he plays the Blazers.

Unfortunately, Sergio sucking in Sacramento won't do anything to slap some sense into the Nate-haters.

Sergio. Who cares. Good Riddance. So we lose a few alley oops in garbage night. Thats the only time sergio is worth watching.

Anyone gonna miss his defense or jump shot?

Keep watchin, haters. :hater:

He will rejuvenate his career this season. I still can't believe KP had to pay the Kings to take him from us.

Ten years from now, that will stand out as the blunder that cost us a dynasty. KP will have been fired 6 years earlier.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009: SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings today signed rookie forward Jon Brockman to a contract, according to Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Brockman was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round (38th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft and his draft rights were acquired by the Kings along with guard Sergio Rodriguez and cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to Jeff Pendergraph, who the Kings selected with the 31st pick.

In four seasons (2005-06 – 2008-09) with the University of Washington, Brockman averaged 13.8 points (.534 FG%, .612 FT%), 9.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in 131 career games. The 6-7, 255-pound forward finished his collegiate career as the Huskies’ all-time rebounder with 1,283 boards and second-leading scorer with 1,805 points. Brockman became the first player in school history to record more than 1,800 points and 1,200 rebounds, a feat achieved by only four players in Pac-10 history. A two-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection, Brockman averaged a double-double in each of his last two seasons (14.9 ppg and 11.5 rpg in 2008-09 and a career-best 17.8 ppg and 11.6 rpg in 2007-08). Brockman was a teammate of current Kings center Spencer Hawes during the 2007-08 season at Washington.

With Pendergraph out for the season, if not for good, KP got completely used and abused by Petrie in this one.

Gave up Sergio, and Brockman, and money.

For a guy who may someday play, or not.

You mean...

Give up a guy we know isn't good, a 6'5" PF, and cash for Pendergraph.

:biglaugh::biglaugh: Brockman and Sergio are gonna qualify as being used and abused?

Seems like fair market value to me. We paid Sacramento to take a player we didn't want to help free up the cap space to sign one we did. PG will be our most improved position this season.

Miller > Blake
Blake >> Sergio

And we still came out ahead on that deal.

This is what's meant by addition by subtraction. Sergio was the worst player on the team last season that played over 100 minutes. He shot an awful 0.392 from the field. He played almost 1000 fewer minutes than Steve Blake, but had more turn overs (119 for Sergio in 1225 minutes vs. 107 for Blake in 2188 minutes). And offense is supposed to be Sergio's strength. He was easily, by a huge margin, the worst "defender" on the team.

So, we had to pay another team to take a guy who can't shoot, turns the ball over like crazy and can't play a lick of defense. Seems like a good deal to me.

Anyone want to bet that Sergio will be back in Europe within 3 years?

Good luck to Sergio in his new place. I think this might be his goodbye tour from the NBA - but I would be happy to see him stick around, as long as it is not on our team. He is certainly a nice guy with some skills, and as such - wishing him the best makes sense - but I honestly think that he might have a Sarunas Jasikevicius like career - a star in Europe where his aversion to defense and lack of elite athletic ability will not hound him as it did in the NBA.

At this point I am delighted to know he is the starting or backup PG of a team we play 4 times this upcoming year.

I actually think Sergio is better than most in here.. but some who are saying that he is the key to our dynasty... LOL! But I think he will prove to be an adequate backup, when allowed to play his free flowing style of Basketball. What I dont understand is the Sergio love but Nate hatred. I think Nate has shown a lot more as a coach than Sergio has as a player.

whoah sorry about breaking the thread.. I accidentally deleted the title and then it did that.

This is where I am with Sergio. I think he and Nate were simply not a good fit, and while 'Sarge' was trying to improve certain aspects of Sergio's game, I think overall Nate did more harm to Sergio's development than good. Sergio needs to play a certain style to blossom, and if allowed to do so I expect his shooting percentage will also improve. I'm rooting for Sergio to be successful. I really enjoy his style of basketball and watching him set up his teammates. I fully expect he will play in Europe when his NBA career is over; I don't think that fact will prove anything one way or the other.

Sergio will do well once he finds his game. Worst case: Brevin Knight. Best case: borderline all-star.

Please do. We've spent three years hearing how great Sergio is, how he's our PG of the future, how he's going to have a break out season and prove all the doubters wrong, how it's all Nate's fault that Sergio sucks, etc. Now, even after we get rid of the bum, we still get more of the same old shit (and yes, this thread REALLY should be labeled OT). Well, I wonder what the excuses will be this time.

Even with Udrih injured, I doubt if Sergio will start. He will probably lose the starting spot to Tyreke Evans, a rookie SG playing out of position at the point. Why? Because Evans has more talent in his left pinky than Sergio does in his whole body. And, if it takes an injury to Beno Udrih for Sergio to get his big break - well that pretty much tells you all you need to know about Sergio Rodriguez. He's not good enough to beat out a healthy Beno Udrih for the starting PG spot on a team that won 17 games last season.
