Why not just play Kristic off the bench? Let him match up against some inferior players to get his confidence going. And if they want to start Diop or Williams instead of Stro, I'm fine with that. But Stro needs some minutes, too. He's played well when given a chance. Kristic is the weakest big right now. Play him off the bench until he finds his range again. I'm tired of seeing his bricks and his struggling post moves.

I like your idea of not starting Nenad. I don't like the fact that you're thinking about starting Stro. He definitely deserves some spot minutes off the bench, but he's not a starter.

On the other hand, Williams would be great. I mean, we've seen what he can do in the starter role, and he seems much more efficient alongside Boone. I wouldn't mind Diop at all either, it'd be nice to see what he can do alongside Josh...but I'd rather have Diop off the bench, as a "replacement" for Josh, since IMO Josh and Diop together is a bit redundant.

It was obvious that Krstic was struggling even more coming off the bench. He has a hard time finding his own rhythm let alone fitting into the rhythm of the game. Plus Stro is good off the bench.

What's it matter who starts? I understand wanting to see Swift play, but I don't think it should come at the expense of trying to get Nenad back into shape.

As bad as Nenad has been playing his +/- since the All Star break is pretty good. He's not hurting the team by being in the lineup.

vs. Orl +4
vs. Ind +8
vs. Ind -3
vs. Chi +8

One game, Krstic will get his confidence back and everything will be fine.

Stro is like third down the list for the starting spot anyway.

who wasn't expecting this? did anyone really expect nenad to take weeks off from the game and come in and play better then he did at the start of the season? other then NI, who really thought Nenad would suddenly start playing better? I dont get what his problem is, he's taken weeks off, played a while and he still looks terrible, is his confidence that low?

Sean should definitely not start. The last thing a rookie needs once he's hit the fatigue of a longer season is MORE minutes. I like the prospect of pairing Stromile with Boone, and would also consider moving Boone to PF and starting Diop.

in the past swift has played better as a starter than as a bench player. if frank wants to bring the best out of him i would say start him, or atleast when he's in the game get him involved early on offense.

Stro is a known commodity with a long track record of under performance. On the other hand, the Nets will have to make contract decisions on Diop and Krstic this summer. They both need to play significant minutes so that they can be properly evaluated.

Additionally, they both give the Nets a better chance of winning games than Stro does.

i wish i could say you're wrong, but that is true. still, though, i think if he plays well in new jersey when given minutes he shouldn't be held to his old reputation. trades are new beginnings, frank said so himself, and he should judge stro on what he has done in new jersey, not in memphis. so far he seems to have done pretty well, ofcourse we don't see what happens in practice but from the minutes he has played you can't say he's looked bad.

Swift should start seeing more minutes, especially with sean's recent struggles

i wouldnt mind seeing him start but i think you would be hurting kristics confidence by benching him especially after the hard work hes been doing to get back healthy

What's more important winning games or Kristic's confidence? He's a liability right now, he should come off the bench.

Knowing how much to spend on Krstic and Diop is more important than either.

Krstic's confidence if much more important in the long run. Who cares if we win games right now, even if we do make the playoffs:

a)It's nothing special or something to be proud of in the East.
b)We get kicked out in the 1st round/2nd round yet again with no real gain.

Getting Krstic back in shape, giving him minutes and just letting him play basketball is important. The team needs to show that they support him and they need to reward him for his efforts to make a comeback.

I think Stro is the nets best big man. He can block shots, creat his own shots and he's automatic when he gets the ball by the rim.

Stro couldn't create his own shot if he was playing H-O-R-S-E

Go look at my earlier post. He's not a liability.

In all fairness we've only seen him in garbage time. I think what happens in practice probably carrys more weight.

That said, I think he should get some more time and maybe it should come at Sean's expense.

false. you should know that's not true just from the limited minutes he has played so far with the nets.

I'm indifferent about Nenad at the moment, but I'd really like to see Stro gets some more minutes within the next few games and have Sean take a seat down in the bench. Sean seems to be hitting the "rookie wall" or just not playing as good lately, and Stro has well, not been playing at all lately. There's no harm in getting Stro more minutes, having Sean's reduced for the time being, and then alternating between the two down the line.

true, but thats how it starts with a new team, thats when you get used to things.. if you play well in garbage time you get a few real minutes, and if you continue to play well you get more. he played well in garbage time and his small stints of real minutes, so now he should be at the second stage imo, getting some significant minutes every game.

Yeah, of course, it isn't like he hasn't been in the NBA since the 2000-2001 season. His pump fake, pump fake, pump fake and then travel shot is easily his best.

is he insanely skilled? no. does he have some post moves, a 15 foot jumper, and good enough ball handling skills to drive to the basket? yes.

don't you think you're being just a bit unfair in your judgement of his skills?

Stro will have to play first, then we could talk about him starting over Nenad.

Swift plays well when he starts, it really seems to keep him in rhythm. I'd like him to get significant minutes soon to see if he can help this team and that his coach believes in him.

I really hope he plays tonight...

stro can definitely create his own shot better than SWat, boone and diop because of that 15-footer he has...he just hasn't improved at all since he came into the league...SWat and boone are better playing off the ball and diop uses his superior positioning inside to get some easy shots...

Dave D basically said the same thing today, and I agree 100%.

The guys they really need to evaluate are Krstic, Diop, Marcus and Sean, and to a certain extent Boki. They should try and make the playoffs too, but the schedule isn't looking too favorable. So once it's obvious we ain't doin' that, we gotta take a look at our unknown commodities and make them a bit more... known.

Although I'd resign Diop either way. Apparently he's a good interview too, which is exciting.
