3 shooters in the starting lineup, 2 off the bench. Vonleh and Leonard in double high post action, with Aminu and Henderson as mostly cutters and Dame running high pick n pop and coming off of pin downs, staggered screens, and fade screens

I don't think Vonleh will get playing time this year unless he really does well in pre-season. Also not sure about CJ at PG.

Starters:
Dame, CJ, Aminu, Leonard, Plumlee

Back-ups:
Frazier, Hedo, Crabbe, Vonleh, Davis

Frazier
Crabbe
Harkless
Davis

I think that Vonleh and Leonard should be on separate units for spacing purposes.
And that CJ and Dame be on separate units so we always have one of them on the floor for scoring purposes.

So my latest opinion is:

Dame, Henderson, Crabbe, Plumlee, Leonard

Frazier, CJ, Aminu, Davis, Vonleh

Ideally Frazier will move to the 3rd team and we upgrade our back up PG
At the end of games there are a lot of different options, (Offense vs Defense) that we can discuss in a different thread.

Dame
Henderson
Aminu
Davis
Leonard

Unless Vonleh impresses from the jump, in which case he starts instead of Davis.
That looks pretty reasonable. Assuming Vonleh develops my guess is that he moves into a prominent role this year and then the starting lineup sometime in the following year. At that point one or more of Leonard, Davis, Plumlee or Aminu will probably be moved in some kind of consolidation trade. If Vonleh doesn't develop then at least the team should still have some theoretical depth at the 4 spot.

Seems like there are multiple threads about this but again
Dame
Henderson
Aminu
Leonard
Plumlee

Davis or Plumlee would net about the same result so are pretty interchangeable

I'm going to go ahead and guarantee this will be the starting unit.

I don’t get why some fans have Leonard starting at C.

Leonard does not want to play C.
Coach says Leonard is a PF, not a C.
Leonard does not know what an NBA C does.
Leonard gets lost when he plays “C”.

Heck yeah, Leonard is qualified to be our starting C. :dunno:

Ed Davis and Mason Plumlee both played most of their minutes at center last year so everyone who has one of them alongside Leonard probably assumes one of them will be playing center.

I just +1'd someone's list but I probably would have listed Leonard at C too simply because he's the tallest and it's hard for me not to think of him as a wimp when I call him a PF.

I agree there is a lot of room for debating the position where some of the players get their minutes, including Davis and Plumlee.

However, even the coach has given up on Leonard playing C. That ship has sailed.

As far as Leonard being the tallest Blazer, he plays much shorter than his height.

Except right before Kim Hughes was fired he said Meyers was a stretch 5.

On offense Leonard is a PF. On defense he's a guy that can guard some of the bigger less athletic centers in the league. IE gasol.

Given our front court I don't think it really matters who is labeled C or PF - we're going to have two bigs out there and they should compliment each other. And that means we can run pretty much any combination except Davis/Plumlee.

I also disagree with your statement that (a) Leonard can't play C, and (b) he doesn't want to/won't play C. He can, he has, and he will.

I'll go with the team USA guy who was coached by Thibbs and won a gold medal. Davis will have to compete but I don't see any dropoff between the 2. Both are really good rim protectors and offensive rebound, putback centers. This is really good to have in 2 7ft guys. Now where is the freethrow coach?

.........and he want to. I heard him specifically say he was working on his inside game so he was not labeled a stretch 4. (or a stretch 5) He wants to be versatile so he ca play both.

I agree on Davis /Plumlee as well, especially since a couple of our SF's are not know for their outside shooting. If either Aminu or Harkless are on the floor, I would prefer Leonard or Vonleh out there with them. Maybe Aminu will continue where he left off in the playoffs shooting 3's, but I am not counting on it. But like you said it doesn't matter what they are labeled, just who they are covering and who they are complementing.

You guys are probably right about having Aminu is in the starting line-up, with Dame, Henderson, Leonard and Plumless. I was thinking Crabbe would be better so he could stretch the floor for Dame to attack the rim better, but now that I think about it, it maybe better for him to do that with CJ and the 2nd unit.

By the draft position numbers

6 Dame
10 C.J.
8 Aminu
9 Vonleh
11 Leonard

UD Frazier
12 Henderson
15 Harkless
13 Davis
19 Plumlee

I doubt Vonleh starts. Perhaps if he plays well off the bench to start the year he may be able to progress to a starting role. I'm guessing we'll start Leonard at PF to begin the year.
