I didn't catch it all...had a few calls. What I did see was really fluffy.

I thought it was quite different from previous SOTU I've seen. Obama seemed to pause at various points expecting cheers and there were none.

My observations are that he basically talked around the big issues but failed to address them directly with actual proposals, and he offered numerous olive branches to the republicans.

The republican response was much better, though he looked like he was reading off a teleprompter and wasn't anywhere as polished at doing it as Obama is.

I feel like having smoked salmon with Chile sauce.

haha. nice camera work by the tea party express on bachman's retort. she's staring off into the distance.

I thought the Republican guy was shockingly wooden in delivery too, Denny. It just seemed so amateurish. Somebody needs to tell the Republican party that speeches like that need to be delivered as though you are talking to a friend, not a crowd of a million.

Anyway, Obama seemed pretty conciliatory and forward-looking to me. But I voted for the guy and am a true-believer, so I guess I heard what I wanted to.

The message of the Republican response was good too. I thought he tried to play the "blame game" a little too much, but whatever. It was overall a decent response.

Didn't see it but I notice 2 posters referred to "the Republican guy".

Seems he blew his shot at 15 minutes of fame.

I'm not sure that proposing more gov't spending was the proper response to what the election results showed in November.

I give the guy credit for sticking to his core beliefs, though.

The moment that made me laugh the most was when he talked about how his recent "tax cuts" put more money into the paycheck of every American. He could have at least given Bush credit for initiating those cuts; some of which that he was against during his campaign for President.

I caught a bit of it without audio. It looked like an SNL skit, but with lower production costs.

Awkward...

Obama is all rhetoric. he's definitely lost his steam. people have heard what he has to say.

america is too lazy to challenge and worry for a "sputnik" moment.

. this shit is boring. blah blah blah...green energy. blah blah blah. tax cuts for the poor. blah blah blah. work hard.

I'm not sure what the point of all that was, since Obama has already drastically cut NASA's manned space program.

Is clean energy technology really the future? To me, its a step backwards. Obama wants to get the breaks to the oil company. He wants to see $5/gallon gas. I think there is a future in Green energy but to gamble the nation's future on it? I don't think so.

Let's fill a real and current demand.

Educate our kids time: Yeah. Most kids are dumbfucks in this country. The schools are glorified zoos.

The winner of the science fair needs to be celebrated! haha
:ohno:

"Race to the top"

what the fuck is this? You want real reform in school? mandatory and difficult exit exams in school. don't pass, don't graduate.

stop babying the kids.

her message was shit and full of tea party propoganda and buzzwords. disgusting.

"ended the unwarranted taxpayer subsidizes to banks".
yeah...what the fuck were you when TARP was being put into action dumbshit?

talking about the illegals now. making excuses. "grew up as americans"? uhhh...no.

High speed rail and high speed internet.

yes. we need it. not so much rail...with telecommuting and internet. its less necessary.

Simplify the tax code!

flat tax!

no loop holes!

level playing field!

If he's proposing it for corporations, why not for all americans?

Obama backed off of ObamaCare a bit and even said he was open to tort reform.

LOL

Hey, let's rush though a shitty bill and then try to fix it a year later!

$250k/year = millionaires who are taking money away from schools?

give me a fucking break.
