Stauskas?

Nice to finally have a bench player who can score.

Somewhat amusing reading first two pages of this thread. I think Pinwheeel should get some credit for the first positive post. I'm sure there were others after that.

Let's hope this continues, but this was his debut for BK against TOR in a blowout loss last season. He then fell off a cliff in that environment with inconsistent PT. Really need Terry/ET et al to keep feeding him. A confident Sauce is key.

“Having experienced the ups and downs/mood swings (to put it nicely) in Blazerland since 1970, I’d almost be willing to put down some real cash that says that Sauce Castillo is a Blazer fan favorite by mid season. Or that’s the way it usually seems to work around here......”

Other than it came earlier than expected Blazer fans are so predictable.....

“I'd take that bet.”

Pony up Jones......and I don’t take pennies.......

Another good reason I'm glad Nik Stauskas is a Blazer

This thread is so funny to go back and read.

He has more to his game than shooting, his first step is quicker than I thought and his ability to find his teammates shows that he is a willing passer unlike some other guards on the team. I'm excited for the bench mob this season. They could be trouble for other teams second units, forcing them to bring their starters back earlier than they wanted to while Dame and CJ get more rest than in any previous season.

Go Blazers!

i hope he doesnt pull a Jake Layman.....
Well, I seem to recall that Jake put up that great game but then didn't get ANY playing time for the next several games. With our roster, there's no way Nik doesn't see the court every single game he's eligible to play in. He probably won't score like he did last night on a consistent basis, but he should be able to chip in 6-8 points on a regular basis, along with making the right pass.

Last year Connaughton and Napier shared the floor with Dame and CJ quite a bit, wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Nik and Curry do the same this year. I expect it to be an improvement. Curry is a threat to go off any night as well.

he got playing time for the next 3-4 games and he didnt do anything at all, so he went back to being benched. i just hope he didnt blow his load and doesnt do anything for a while.

Great game by him last night.....BUT........ I’m just gonna do something that some might find crazy around here. I’m going to wait for more than just ONE game to judge his play. Just like I’m not going to crush Curry, Trent or Simons for theirs last night. Going to wait fo a bigger sample size before I call this kid the next great thing. I did the same with Layman after his Clippers game on the road and Patty last season. I think he was not on anybody’s radar, scouting wise. That will change quick after last night. Hope this play continues, but I’ll give him a few more games.

That's a good point. If he gets into the flow of the offense and consistently makes the right pass he can contribute without scoring in double figures.

Huh. Just goes to show how faulty memories can be! I coulda sworn he got benched. But yeah, last night's game definitely made me think of last season's game, and I too hope it doesn't follow the same trajectory. Something tells me it won't.

You Sir, need to stop making sense on the internet. There's no room for that here.

There is no doubt Nik will not continue to shoot over 50% from 3 shoot range. If he did he would be in the HOF.
Almost all 3 pt shooters off the bench are going to be inconsistent from deep. But this year we have more shooters on the team besides Dame and CJ who have the ability to get hot. Curry, Nik, and Jake all have a beautiful quick shooting form. The shots may not all fall but they always look pretty.

To a lesser extent Hark, Aminu, and Meyers could get hot as well. You have to have lots of shooters.

How DARE you bring reason, reality and objectivity into this forum. Shame on you!

I think the most impressive thing Nik did last night was not his hot shooting, but his ability to use the shooting to get into the paint and make good passes, that pass to Zach for the dunk was a really solid play. If the defense feels like they cant close out hard on him because he can go by them, he will be valuable even on the nights he isnt shooting lights out.

Its one game though, theres still a lot of basketball left this season.

Nothing wrong with getting excited for the kid, jeez. I think everyone knows it's only one game. Can we have nice things for more than 12 hours, please?
You sure about this? These same guys putting him in the Hall of Fame after 28 minutes of play, will be the first ones hammering him when he doesn’t score that many points in the whole month of November. As if he’s SUPPOSED to.
