Maybe not threadworthy but it's something. He is a free agent this upcoming summer however, so if we want to dump salary on DAL, he could be a viable rental.

Boston has already emerged as a team interested in trading for Dallas center Andrew Bogut, and here’s another team that makes sense: Portland. The Mavericks have yet to make Bogut available for potential deals, per ESPN’s own Tim MacMahon, but the Blazers are a natural suitor given their clear need for a defensive anchor at the rim as the league’s 30th-ranked defense as of Friday morning.

I mentioned this possibility in the Around the NBA thread on Monday:

Unless DAL turns it around big time, Bogut might be available at the deadline. Would you bite if the price was right? His scoring is down in DAL, but he's again leading the league in DBPM for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. He's 4th in the league in TRB% and I'm sure Dame and C.J. could benefit from some of his patented falling backwards moving screens.

His contract is the concerning thing for me. He would for all intents and purposes be a rental for half a year, unless we offload enough salary to get under the luxury tax next summer.

Reminiscent of the Ratliff/Camby acquisitions. We got some old dudes for a half year, they played really well, and then we overpaid them. Maybe we need this for this squad. We are seriously soft. Can he make our dudes tough through osmosis?

Sidebar, I read somewhere that he and Terry have beef from his time in MIL. Is this true? Kinda hard to believe given Stotts' philosophy

Wesley Matthews is rumored to be on the trading block too.

To injury prone!

And yet not half as injury prone as the other former GSW center we acquired.

Here's their games and minutes played in recent seasons:

Andrew Bogut
2013-14: 67 games, 1769 minutes
2014-15: 67 games, 1583 minutes
2015-16: 70 games, 1481 minutes
2016-17: 16 games, 400 minutes
Total - 220 games, 5233

Festus Ezeli
2013-14: 0 games, 0 minutes
2014-15: 46 games, 504 minutes
2015-16: 46 games, 770 minutes
2016-17: 0 games, 0 minutes
Total - 92 games, 1274

Andrew Bogut averages more minutes per season than Festus Ezeli has played in the last 5 seasons combined.

Plus, he's better when he does play.

If the price was cheap, I'd take a chance. Worst case we let him walk at the end of the season and wish him well.

BNM

What would Dallas want for Bogut? Probably cap space more than anything. I can see them checking to see if Philly will take him off their hands.

Otherwise I'd gladly offer Crabbe + ? for Bogut and Wes.

Why would Philly want another center?

I'd do that in an instant. Wessy is slowly rounding back to form from his injury (which in reality, does take 2 yrs to recover fully). I like the Wes - ET combo better than ET-AC, even 2 years from now. Actually feel like AC would do better in an increased role in DAL as well, and they could build around Barnes/AC.

Okay then - somebody tell Olshey. Oh, and the ? can be Ezeli, because let's admit it, he's never going to play again, so he can just be filler for trade purposes.

(But "building round Barnes and Crabbe" has to be the saddest building project ever.)

I'd bring back Rolo or bring in Tyson Chandler before Bogut.....! We can do better at the 5

Heres what'd is do:

PHI Gets:
Allen Crabbe

DAL Gets:
Mason Plumlee
Noah Vonleh
2018 POR 1st

POR Gets:
2017 LAL 1st (~11th)
Andrew Bogut
Wesley Matthews

Crabbe acts us a salary dump to balance our outgoing salaries while landing us a lotto pick. We land fiery defensive veterans in Bogut and Matthews. With the ~11th and ~20th picks, we could trade up to ~7th or keep those 2 picks. I trust Niel's drafting.

Dallas sheds over $20M in salary and gets younger.

Philadelphia gets Crabbe while only giving up their 2nd pick instead of Noel.

Gross dude.... no way do I want Wes back on this team with that salary. Plus there were rumors that he had changed before he left.

No thanks.

What -really- pisses me off about this is bogut going to Dallas had to happen so Durant could get on GSW.

Philly gives up a lottery pick to take on Crabbe and his deal?

Wes is better than Crabbe so swapping them makes sense. I heard firsthand that he changed but he brings a fire to this team that were lacking.

A late lotto pick is not inconceivable for Crabbe. It's their second pick and Crabbe fits well with the players the have. Might just have to nave it a right to swap 1sts deal.

Not happening. lol Crabbe has negative value. If he's gonna get you a lotto pick, I'll take Dallas out of it altogether and just swap AC for the pick.
