Stein: Bogut makes sense for Portland

Philly gives up a lottery pick to take on Crabbe and his deal?

Yeah, PHI gets totally screwed in this deal.

I applaud the idea and effort of the 3-team trade scenario, but if we're going to trade Crabbe to PHI, I think a Crabbe for Noel swap makes more sense. Colangelo has had a grudge against Noel ever since he called him silly, is totally jerking him around and wants him gone. With Embiid beasting, Okafor and Ben Simmons waiting in the wings, Noel is the odd man out in PHI To PHI, that Lakers' lottery pick is much more valuable than Nerlens Noel.

On the other hand, Noel is an elite defending big man that's only 22. Sounds like he addresses a huge need for us. We get younger (and much better defensively) and get to dump Crabbe's contract.

Not happening. lol Crabbe has negative value. If he's gonna get you a lotto pick, I'll take Dallas out of it altogether and just swap AC for the pick.
He doesn't have negative value to Philadelphia.

I'm sure he could get us at least swap rights with that pick.

A late lotto pick is not inconceivable for Crabbe. It's their second pick and Crabbe fits well with the players the have. Might just have to nave it a right to swap 1sts deal.

So why not Crabbe for Noel? It fixes problems for both teams. PHI gets some much needed outside shooting to spread the floor for their bigs and Noel gives us an elite defending big.

Remember, Noel was a high lottery pick and he's only 22. But, in PHI he's redundant and his GM hates him for calling him silly.

Revised:

PHI Gets:
Allen Crabbe
2018 CLE 1st

DAL Gets:
Mason Plumlee
Noah Vonleh
2018 POR 1st

POR Gets:
Nerlens Noel
Andrew Bogut
Wesley Matthews

Nets Get:
Meyers Leonard

If we can get a different defensive big man then I'd rather have that pick.

We probably don't have that option. It's up to PHI and they have a recent history of valuing picks, especially lottery picks, over players.

Yup, when in doubt, keep it simple. AC for Noel and entice them with a pick.

3 team and 4 team deals are fun on trade machine, but they just don't happen in reality.

Well I think I'd be willing to trade them Crabbe for swap rights to those picks.

Sidebar, I red somewhere that he and Terry have beef from his time in MIL. Is this true? Kinda hard to believe given Stotts' philosophy
I can imagine anyone having a beef with Bogut, he's kind of a douche.

He'd fit in well in OT given his political bent.

Great passer, like Plums but with defence.

I think he would bring some toughness to the team, not just with his play, but also with his leadership. He can rub people the wrong way, but he has a Dame like intensity.

We'd have to manage him, make sure he got rest against lesser teams, but he is willing to play through injury.

I'm all for renting him for half a season.

Trading for Bogut would be settling in my opinion. There are other big men out there that are available that would be better for us long term. Renting does nothing for me. We are not a Bogut away from contending. Go get Nurkic or Noel!

You would, but they wouldn't.

PHI hasn't traded away a 1st round pick since August 2012. In that span, they've acquired seven 1st round picks via trades, as well as the right to swap several other picks (in their favor).

No way are they going to suddenly trade away a lottery pick for the honor of taking on Allen Crabbe's contract.

Yeah, but Sam Presti was GM.

I think Colangelo values picks less than he did.

Sam Hinkie.

And, I'm not sure about Bryan Colangelo. He tried to trade Okafor during this year's draft to acquire another lottery pick, and he refused to trade the No. 1 pick in TOR because he wanted to draft Andrea Bargnani. Sounds to me like another guy who values the thrill of the draft over acquiring known talent.

If we can trade for Bogut without triggering the luxury tax this year, I'm willing to listen...

Could just bring in Kaman for the vets minimum on the cheap....he knows the gameplan

Let's get the old gang back together again!
Not sure how CJ will feel about going back to the bench, tho...

Haha Wes is garbage now if anything he'd be spot minutes guy off the bench

Turner for Bogut sounds like a logical Cuban trade right now.
