Davidson All-American point guard Stephen Curry is excited about the possibility of playing for the New York Knicks, the New York Daily News reported.
Curry, who averaged 28.6 points for the Wildcats as a junior last season, has been linked to the Knicks — who have the eighth pick in next month's NBA draft — for close to two months. He got a chance to visit with Knicks president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni last night after the first day of the pre-draft combine, the Daily News reported.
"There's been a lot of talk about New York and that situation being the most ideal now,"' Curry said Friday. "I like the system and the fact they need a point guard who can shoot. D'Antoni likes to get up and down. That's how I played all my life. I can make an open shot. But you got to keep your options open if things don't work out that way."
Curry has been working on his strength and conditioning and polishing his ballhandling for workouts with the Knicks and two other lottery teams, Oklahoma City and Washington. "I'm preparing for next season, not just the draft," he said.
