Anyone else watching? Retired 6 of the 7 he's faced (gave up a single) and has struck out 4 through the first two innings pitched.

His control hasn't been amazing, but his velocity and movement has been fantastic.

I have NO idea what you are talking about! We covered this in another thread today...... baseball sucks! But compare this if you will to something happening in the world of the NBA.

Clearly you do know what I'm talking about.

SlyPokerDog is right.

Isn't he pitching against Pitt? If so, he's still in the minors.

He's in the National League. He'll be pitching in the minors for a while.

Signed, Ironic Mariners' Fan.

I think it's rodeo. Which is like bestial NASCAR.

He is a freak!!!!!

11 K's through 6. This guy is throwing some nasty stuff. Hopefully they let him go one more inning. LOL only 81 pitches through 6 as well.

Yup. One bad pitch, but otherwise he's been sparkling. Living up to the hype.

I remember when he gave up a minor league homer he was pissed, and then said after the game "they'll run into a fastball eventually".

Wonder what happened after he gave up the dinger today?

EDIT: I mean mentally, not the whole striking-out-5-of-the-next-7-batters.

Bwahaha. 14 K's through 7 now. He has struck out the side the last 2 innings.

And he is officially done for this game.

I fully understand why the Nats are doing this...the very very last thing you want to see is his arm to get injured and young pitchers are so fragile. But man, I really wish we could see him keep going. He looks unhittable right now.

Still bitter.

Why the FUCK did we start winning the last 15 games?!?!

He threw 94 pitches. It's not like the stupid ass Joba rules that the Yankees used. But ya, more is better when it comes to him.

It wasn't even the last 15. All we had to do was get lose 2 of three in the last series of the season, and we'd have had the worst record. As it was, we decide to sweep Oakland to miss out by 1 game.

14 Ks in only 94 pitches through 7 innings and a W. Damn. I'm impressed. Already a fantasy ace.

I retract my previous statement. We won 4 of our last 6 games :(

He has some of the nastiest stuff I've ever seen, and I'm not exaggerating. His curve hits shoulder high, and dies. Absolutely amazing. This kid is for real.

will somebody explain to a non baseball fan why this is thread worthy. Is he a rookie or something?

One of the commentators compared him to Kerry Wood, due to his four-seam fastball and curve. While his fastball and curve are similar to a young Woods', adding in a plus change-up, a wicked two-seam fastball and better command just puts him in a completely different class.

The best pitchers I've ever seen were Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez, with Randy Johnson just behind them (the first two I'd put in the top-five ever and all belong in the top-ten ever, IMO). Strasberg has a chance to be better than all of them, if he remains healthy. I've just never seen a pitcher without any weakness and four put-away pitches.

Some believe he's the greatest pitching prospect ever. He was drafted last year and reached the majors in under a year from when he signed, which is extremely unusual for a starting pitcher drafted at age 20.

FOR HCP: And tonight was his major league debut. One of the most anticipated debut's in recent memory. LeBron debut level to give you context.

Well let's not exaggerate. Strasburg's good, but he's no Bryce Harper. ;)

Is this harper guy gonna be the real deal? He was the #1 pick right? Will he play this season in the majors?
