Steve Blake Appreciation Thread

I'm a little reluctant to start this thread because I'm worried about any negative or half-negative comments. I think Blake deserves better than that and hope that only people will post who can just stick to the positive and forget about the negative for this thread only.

Steve is a guy who loved the Blazers, he was a guy who always gave 100%, a guy who never complained or bitched, but was always ready to do what he or the coach thought would help the team the most. His trademark was steady and usually heady play. He had some great shooting nights and some great assist nights and played as good defense as he was physically capable. I will miss seeing him on the court.

I wouldn't doubt he re-signs with the Blazers this coming summer. KP loves that guy.

I thought about starting it. He played here 3 1/2 seasons, he worked his ass off, he was a great community guy, he had a great shot, and he kept good control of the ball. Heady player, I'll miss him.

I just listened in on the Clippers version of the broadcast and they called him up to talk during the game, and he tried to soldier through it, but he obviously sounded disappointed. I wish him the best.

Although I think it was time to part ways, he was a good guy and worked his ass off to help the Blazers succeed. It was appreciated. But mostly I appreciate that he is not a crutch to Nate anymore.

Just to reiterate, this is a thread to show appreciation for a gym rat who lives year around in Portland; not a thread to criticize Nate.

Blake's a warrior, and was probably one of the toughest guys on the team. He hit a ton of big shots last season in his career year, and I appreciate everything he gave for us. I think he was a great fit for the franchise during our transition from the Jail Blazer era. Not flashy at all but was just stable.

Among the common fan, I think Blakey had a ton of fans out there.

Blake seems like a good guy and he's a decent-to-good backup point guard. He was miscast as a starting point guard which caused him to take abuse that he didn't deserve.

With the additional of Miller he was better off sitting on the bench as a second unit. Both Miller and bayless attack the basket. Yes, blake had some key 3 point shots to secure wins and was a dedicated worker throughout his career here but other than that this 2009-2010 was a regression year for him.

On another note....His wife wasn't friendly one game, and threw her family credentials at a NBA security agent in the hallway during one game. She had it stuffed away in her bag. Its amazing how some wives/gf can be so reluctant on showing their passes when they don't want to be noticed. Well, they all sit in the same section anyways behind the Blazer bench so whats the difference?
