Steve Blake on Steroids ...

Most of you probably recall KP famously declaring Jerryd Bayless "Jarret Jack on Steroids" shortly after he drafted him, but in retrospect perhaps he should have been looking hard for "Steve Blake on Steroids" especially given the latest flap with Roy declaring that he wants the ball more and wants to go back to the way the offense ran two years ago

So assuming that what this team needs is another point guard who can space the floor most of the time, but also run an offense and play some physical D, who out there in the league would you guys consider a candidate to be this "Blake on the Sauce?" Is Wesley Matthews worth looking at as a one considering his on-the-ball defense, his shooting ability and what appears to be pretty good court vision and ball-handling?

Outside of Game 1 and the end of Game 2, Blake SHUT DOWN Brooks, completely owning him. In other words, Blake made adjustments afte game 1 and all Brooks got was a flurry of shots at the end of a game we had in the bag.

Blake's D isn't that much better than Brooks. I was basing it more on 3 point shooting ability than anything.

Outside of Game 1 and the end of Game 2, Blake SHUT DOWN Brooks, completely owning him. In other words, Blake made adjustments afte game 1 and all Brooks got was a flurry of shots at the end of a game we had in the bag.

Brooks averaged more points than Blake in that series, and his team advanced in the playoffs. Blake doesn't OWN anything.

Actually, outside of Mo Williams, maybe Jarrett Jack is our best bet. He's having a fantastic preseason and he hasn't missed from the three point line. He also knows Roy, knows Nate. I actually think he'd be a great fit now that he's had time to hone is game in Tor and Indy. An Andre Miller for Jarrett Jack swap seems fair for both sides especially since Toronto would get cap relief to help rebuild. What do you think? Jack may be the best guy out there.

The real question is, did he stop stepping out of bounds on crucial plays?

It would be interesting to see if time away from the team has matured his game and morphed him into something different than what he was here. Somehow I suspect we'd be a little unhappy with the actual on-the-court product

In the last 4 games of that series, Blake held Brooks to 31.9% shooting from the field (15 of 47)

Meanwhile, Blake shot 51.6% from the field (16 of 31) in the same span.

And oh yeah, Blake had 26 assists during those 4 games while Brooks only had 14.

Like I said, Blake the adjustments and owned Brooks for most of the series.

The guy who killed us in that series was Outlaw. We got off to a great start in Game 6. But then we brought in Outlaw and he missed almost every shot he took. It killed our groove and ended the series for us. But you simply cannot blame Blake. He had a bad Game 1, but he adjusted and outside of a meaningless flurry of Brooks shots at the end of Game 2, Blake completely dominated Brooks the rest of the way. That's the playoffs are about. Adjustments. Just like the Suns adjusted on Miller except Nash needed help from his buddy Grant. Blake didn't need any help on Brooks. He just manned up and shut his guy DOWN.

Individually, in the last four games of the series, Blake outshot, outSCORED, outrebounded, outdefended, outstole, outassisted, and outworked Brooks.

I agree. Outlaw absolutely disappeared in the playoffs. I didn't say I blamed Blake for anything, only thing that gets me is him air-balling that three in Game 3 and getting stomped out in Game 1. I give him credit for adjusting his game and stepping up somewhat.

But the fact remains that Brooks outscored Blake and his team won the series.

Who would you rather have on our team, btw? Brooks or Blake?
