There were only 6 games in the series. Blake DOMINATED Brooks for 4 of those games. That's a lot. You said you remembered Brooks holding Blake to nothing when in reality, Blake dominated Brooks for MOST of the SERIES!

If I'm looking at a 4 game sample, that means YOU are only looking at a TWO GAME SAMPLE.

You can't pin the series loss on Blake. Blake did his job. He completely owned Brooks for 70% of the series!

And, to answer your question, on our team, I'd rather have Blake.

If you look at the whole series, Blake dominated Brooks 4 games to 2. That means Blake won that matchup for the WHOLE SERIES.

Seems to me there's a premium on point guards in the league who will defer much of the playmaking abilities to the SG and hang out in the corner for 3's. Kobe's lucky, he has the best guard at doing that in Fisher.

Mo Williams is obviously a guy that fits that mold, another guy is Boobie Gibson. Jrue Holliday is a guy who can play that game, but like Hill and Dragic they are being groomed to be PGOTF for their teams.

I seem to remember Aaron Brooks destroying Steve Blake and holding him virtually scoreless. But then it did seem like Brandon Roy scored all of our points in that series.

Blake had a decent offensive series against Houston (15 PER,/61% TS/124 Ortg/10ppg/6apg/4rpg/49%FG/42%3pt), and outside of 2 games, Brooks was mediocre.

Blake had a better series against Houston than Miller had against PHX, IMO.

To answer the thread question (I prefer the title BBB: Bigger Better Blake):

For the few who still care, and actually take this suggestion seriously, here's a recent update on the Fightin' Finn.

But if PK never happens for us, I have high hopes for Armon. He doesn't have the shooting touch yet, though, and he may never be the spot-up shooter that Blake is. I really would like to force the issue though by doing this trade. (Looks unfair to Cleveland, but they save a lot of money on AV's long contract, and they swap a PF (they also have Jamison, Hickson and Powe) for a C. They could also get $3M and/or a pick or two.) The advantages for us are obvious (which is why I keep going on about it) - we shore up the frontcourt and get a really good defender and rebounder who can backup the 5 for stretches.

Blake did not dominate any of those games.

Brooks dominated games one and two.

Blake had better stats for games three thru five.

Game six Brooks was the better of the two with Blake playing 40 minutes, scoring two points with 4 turnovers on only 5 assists.

To jump back on topic, I do not think getting a "Steve Blake on Steroids" is the answer. The Lakers have had success with Fisher alongside Kobe only when they have also had an inside presence. Until Oden or LA step up, we need someone besides Brandon that can create.

Plus to top it off there are the "bonehead" plays that only guys like Steve Blake makes. Like launching up a half court heave with 13 seconds left in a playoff game, when you don't need a 3.

As far as acquiring a Steve Blake on steroids type player, Mo Williams is about as close as it gets. Realistically it's definitely not out of the question to acquire him and offensively he's the perfect fit next to Roy. Defensively yeah, not great. People on here have said no to him because they say he's a shoot-first PG, but imo he's no more of a shoot-first PG than Andre Miller is.

The other player I've always had in mind in Mike Conley.
