While Blake may be a better current fit as a backup 1, Bayless is already as good an overall player as Blake with significant upside. I'd rather not needlessly trade away the more valuable player just for short-term fit on the bench.
That all may be true, but I'm increasingly of the opinion that Bayless is a pretty lousy fit for this team as 1) either a future starting "point" and 2) a guy with good role-player potential. His one elite tool is all about Jerryd getting to the rack to the detriment of any ball movement, he's not a knock-down shooter (if he were I'd be a lot more optimistic) and his defense -- while very "engergetic" -- just isn't very effective. He's Corey Maggette 2.0 (another great individual talent with a knack for finishing at the cup, but with a suspect ability to make his teammates better).
I really can't envision a Bayless-Roy backcourt in the future and with the seeming imminent addition of Wes Matthews where is he going to play?
