Steve Nash: Trade to Portland would be a "terrific situation"

Ditto.

Now if it was a finals win this year and then 10 years of missed playoffs, you'd have my full attention.

The question was two choices:

1) WCF this year

Or

2) no first round win or no playoffs for the next 10 years

Some people want to stay mediocre or tear down the team and truly suck. I prefer trying to win now. Thus, we should trade for Nash.

Size 12s....... I believe they are going to sell them online and the proceeds would go to the school. But they are in my basement and whoever wants them on here I'd sell them to and pass the money on.

^Look how excited Jeremy Lin is to see those guys!

Seems like it's obvious to me, but Portland lost their championship opportunity when Oden turned into Samuel Jackson's character from Unbreakable, and then Roy's knees decided to leave him shortly afterward.

Drafting Rudy Gay over Roy wouldn't have done anything other than mean the team would have been worse, and both KP and Nate would have been fired a long time ago.

Drafting Oden over Durant is just another bizarre circumstance, which at the time seemed like a lock no matter who was picked, for an organization that seems to keep its head above water most of the time, in spite of what fate has already determined for them.

I suggest that many of you who post here should start reading Shakespeare. Many of his works will help you come to grips with being a Blazer fan.

Yes.

Here. (Somebody on Blazers' Edge linked to it.)

I have a feeling that Aldridge is doing some recruiting for Nash. Maybe had a convo about would he stay in Portland if they traded for him. Regardless, if there is any shot at getting Nash without trading Batum or Aldridge; we should pull the trigger.

Honestly, all you people hoping for Nash should be hoping we get him in the off-season.

The best chance we have of getting Nash is in free agency.

If we ended up using our cap space this summer on Nash I wouldn't be disappointed, but I'd still like to make a run at DWill.

I wouldn't mind either. He's another stop gap, albeit a very good stop gap.

For those thinking Nash would re-up here, if that's what you believe, then there's not much point to trading for him anyways. We could keep our assets and also get Nash for free.

Yes but I think he stays loyal to Phoenix. He won't pull a LJ and leave his team hanging. He would want them to get something in return. At least that's how I see him.

Agreed, this is my hope as well.

Nash gets a graceful exit, and the Blazers get to keep their core.

You don't have to get them something in return to not pull a Lebron! what LBJ did was ridiculous. Simply not demanding a trade and playing out the life of a contract is loyal IMO

I think he realizes that it's time for Phoenix to move on and rebuild.

Also, when you start talking about loyalty, the guy pretty much bailed on Dallas.

Dallas wouldn't pay him. That's a much different story IMO. He wanted to stay, but they wouldn't offer him the contract he deserved.

Couldn't we offer cash with a trade as well? I know it doesn't hold value, but I seem to remember that you can include cash as an incentive for a deal. Maybe if Allen forks a little more money, they maybe able to get him with less trading pieces.

FALSE.

Look up Cuban's story about how it all went down.

Cuban: Steve, I love you, but I won't give you the MAX or anything close to it, I am worried about your health long-term (back issues).

Steve: Dude, I want to stay in Dallas. Give me an offer. WTF?

Cuban: It is hard to set the market for a unique player like yourself. I want you to go out, get the best offer you can, and I will match it.

Steve: Cool.

Steve: Phoenix is offering 6 years, $63 mil.

Cuban: Oh, dude, that is way too high. I need a center, and I am going to spend most of that money on Eric Dampier.

No joke people. Cuban essentially paid Dampier the money he refused to pay Nash.

I remembered it going down like that too.

Who cares about MVPs? Do you think Nash would instead of rings? I don't think so.

The point is, Nash was a borderline All-Star on Dallas, and then suddenly became an MVP player in Phoenix. I have always suspected that his inflated numbers were due more to the system and not the player.

Case in point: Raymond Felton

The Mavs had a very good team with Nash, Dirk, and Finley all in their prime and they couldn't win it. What makes you think that team with Nash would have been any better than that team with Jason Kidd?

Funny enough, Cuban has a ring now and Nash doesn't.

Dampier didn't help get Cuban the ring, smartypants.

As you can tell I hate those who overuse the "winning"! line.

It is trite, bored, obnoxious and essentially worthless. Charlie Sheen is the apex of that mindset. If you aspire to be that - fantastic.

Cuban did an excellent job of correcting his (self-admitted "terrible" mistake).

But it took him 6 years to correct that mistake. The only players left on the Dallas team that finally won the ring were Dirk and Jason Terry. Every other player was changed, so the team had to be rebuilt in order to win the ring after the Dampier for Nash fiasco.

Well for one, Kidd wasn't in his prime when he won the ring and Nash was. And explain why Nash is still tearing it up at age 38?
